Years have passed in the last five months here in Minnesota. A cold winter of occupation and violence, one the pundits told us would turn us inward; make us callous and bitter, has turned instead into a brilliant spring whose warming light has thrown into sharp relief, the glowing heart of Minnesota, these cities, and our people.
A people that show up. A people that stand up. A people that speak up -loudly- for one another.
Somewhere in all of this, sits a little stone brewpub. One that played host to the abolitionist German immigrant volunteers of the Civil War. One that, thanks to the enduring love of a caring and committed community, hasn’t forgotten where she comes from.
Today, as the first June sun pours out over the emerald bluffs of the capital city, we remember yet another struggle. One that began long before the riots at a different old tavern and one that so many of us still carry in our hearts every day.
Inspired, as we always are, by our incredible and diverse community of staff, guests, family, and friends, and spurred on by a renewed sense of place, belonging, and home here in Minnesota, Waldmann wishes a happy Pride Month to our trans, non-binary, intersex, and pan, 2Spirit, bi-sexual, gay, le***an, ace, and q***r family and all devoted allies.
We’ve got a space for you. 🍻
