Happy State Fair Eve to all those who celebrate 🤠

We’re gonna take a moment to tip our hat to all the fine folks over the years who have dedicated every August to gettin the saloon nice ‘n tidy for our great get together. Mighty grateful to Pat & Gabe Hinnenkamp who have been working cleaning crew the past 10 years. We wouldn’t be the fine establishment that we are if it weren’t for all your hard work setting up the Frontier.

The primary cleaning crew staff from 1989-2015 were Kathy & Tom Palma and Bill & Lorraine Russ. All nine of Kathy and Tom’s grandchildren pitched in over those years to support the cleaning crew. Getting the Frontier clean and ready for y’all takes a whole lotta helpin’ hands. 🤠🧼

Last stop on the trail: 2015.

The final and biggest addition in recent times is the stage. Back in 2015, Two Hicks and a Chick was the band that broke in the Frontier stage, playing all 12 days of the Fair. Our stage quickly became a favorite and over the years our lineup has grown to include a variety of bands and performers multiple times a day, all for your listenin’ pleasure. 🤠🎶🎸

Sure is tiring stepping back in time. Take a load off on the benches right outside our saloon. Proudly contributed by the Frontier in support of the MN State Fair Foundation in 2006, they’ve been giving tired fairgoers a spot to rest ever since.

Read up on the Pony Express and Old West legends like Doc Holliday and Jesse James. You can also find a bench honorin’ the late Bill Brede, the man who started up the Frontier in 1963. Take a gander at these here stories and keep an eye out for the other benches we’ve added over the years the next time you’re passing through the Frontier. And maybe grab a drink and rest your weary rear, too 🤠
