Our mission is simple but powerful: to foster a lifelong love of music, preserve women’s roles in jazz history, and create opportunities for the next generation of musicians.

Not every girl quits music because she stops loving it.
Sometimes she just wants a greater level of support and representation

This summer, 28 girls are coming together at our camp for instrumental instruction, band playing, jazz history, and artist development workshops.

This is where representation in music begins!

Our programs are free. That's right. Free. Families at TGJBS are not charged any participation fees because access to music education shouldn’t depend on who can afford it! 🎷

As a nonprofit, our goal has always been to make jazz more accessible, more welcoming, and more representative of the next generation of musicians.

Every girl in this program deserves an environment that supports her fully regardless of financial barriers.

Music becomes stronger when more people are invited into it. ✨

60 days until Camp 2026! 🎶

In two months, our rooms will be filled with combo rehearsals, jazz history sessions, improvisation workshops, creative projects, and 28 young musicians ready to grow together.

This year’s camp is officially full, and we’re counting down the days until it begins. Follow us, and keep up with the cause!

Only 27% of jazz musicians worldwide are women. Just 27%.

That number will never change unless we do something about it.

The Girls' Jazz and Blues Society is building the next generation of female jazz musicians right here in Sacramento. Our summer camp teaches girls not just how to play, but how to lead, express themselves, and take up space.

Jazz is not an inaccessible art form.

Rather, it's one of the best ways to teach a child how to improvise, think on their feet, and recover from mistakes.

At TGJBS, our instructors are trained to strip away the intimidation and teach the mechanics. We make it incredibly fun, incredibly fast.

If your daughter has shown any interest in music, this is the safest place to start.

We talk a lot about the "summer slide" when it comes to math and reading.

But what about the confidence slide?

When girls are pulled out of their school routines and placed in unstructured environments for three months, a lot of the social confidence they built up during the school year vanishes.

TGJBS Summer Camp is a 6-day program to prevent exactly that from happening.

Yes, they learn jazz. But they also participate in mental wellness workshops, learn how to handle stress, and stand up in front of a live audience.

It is the ultimate confidence reset before the next school year starts.
