Well, this one is definitely going in the history books… and it’s almost embarrassing to post!
Yes, it’s true… Debbie Hester won the Queen of Hearts drawing tonight.
I had already left because there was still work to do when I got a phone call letting me know that my number, #16, was the Queen of Hearts. Since I left about 10 minutes early and wasn’t present for the drawing, I only received half of the jackpot.
For those who know me, you know I’ve always bought tickets for one reason: to support the American Legion and, if I ever happened to win, to put it right back into the pot and keep the fun going.
So that’s exactly what I’m doing.
Every penny of my winnings is being donated back.
I’ve said for years that if my number was ever called, I’d donate it back so we could start another board and keep raising money for our Legion and our community.
I also told you all that sometimes the Queen gets found early! We’d all prefer to use the entire board, but that’s not always how luck works. It could have been anyone tonight… it just happened to be me.
That means on July 7th, we’ll start a brand-new board with $1,463 already in the pot!
Thank you to everyone who buys tickets, supports the Schuyler American Legion, and makes this game so much fun. Let’s see how big we can make this next jackpot!
