Wrapping up another brand kit for Compete Sports Performance. The kit includes four core identity pieces, giving the brand flexibility and variety across different applications. We started with the primary logo, which combines the monogram logomark with the logo signature. From there, we built out additional assets: the standalone monogram logomark, a lockup logo, and an emblem-style logo. Together, these provide a complete toolkit that keeps the brand cohesive while allowing versatility.

I’ve been following the Cracker Barrel rebrand with real curiosity. What went wrong here—and who’s taking responsibility? Was there meaningful consumer testing behind the new identity? Did the design team deliver what the client wanted instead of what they needed? Or was this simply design by committee?

With 25+ years in the design industry, I find the whole situation full of unanswered questions. It’s a reminder of how delicate the balance is between modernization and brand heritage.

We ran into a group of custom car detailers taking pictures of their show cars on a dock. I couldn’t resist taking some photos on my own. Not sure why they didn’t photograph them where they were staging the cars. I thought the staging area provided a perfect backdrop for these cars.
