I would personally like to thank Neal McCoy and his band for hanging out at my bar while they were in town for the 4th. We appreciate your business and love your music.

We’re in the thick of summer, which hopefully means a little more time for doing what we love (or what our kids love).

As you’re out and about enjoying your favorite things, pay attention.... What banners are hanging on the fences at the arena and the ballfields? Who’s bidding on animals at the county fair? What business logos are printed in the programs or on the backs of jerseys?

Those are the people and the businesses who have financially supported those events. They’re the reason those things are even possible.

So when it’s time to buy groceries, clothes, livestock feed, supplies for your backyard project, fix your water heater, or go out to dinner...don’t forget to support them first.

Small businesses are the backbone of America.

They provide local jobs.
They pay local taxes.
And they’re usually the FIRST to give back when the community needs it most.

I’ll admit, I love the ease of adding things to my Amazon cart. But let’s be honest... I’ve never seen an Amazon banner at a rodeo or a ballgame. And I haven't caught them pitching in for the new park that your rural town is trying to build.

Sure, some small businesses do sell on Amazon—but when you buy directly from their website or walk through their door, they get to keep more of the money you’re already choosing to spend. That makes a big difference.

Because when it comes to showing up—at community events, fundraisers, and local programs—it’s not Amazon.
It’s not Shein.
It’s not Temu.

It’s the SMALL BUSINESSES IN OUR COMMUNITIES.

The “Mom and Pop” shops.

The entrepreneurs who are doing everything they can to make it pencil out in an economy that’s anything but easy.

They need us now more than ever.

If we appreciate their involvement and want to keep seeing our communities thrive—especially in rural areas—then we have to support those who support us.

I get it. Sometimes we can’t get everything we need at the local grocery or hardware store. And yes, big box stores exist for a reason.

But we can’t let convenience make us forget about community.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
It just has to be intentional.

Because when you spend money at a small business, you’re not just making a purchase—you’re helping keep the things we love going.

The sports.
The fairs.
The jerseys.
The programs.
The parks.
The people.

Strong communities aren’t built by waiting for things to get better. They’re built by people who show up.

And it starts by backing the businesses that always show up for us. ❤️

Going to be an awesome 4th in Roundup

Some of the greatest stage performers we ever had are booked for the 2025 edition of RIDE. Wyoming singer-songwriter Chancey Williams has the distinction of being one of only two cowboys to have competed in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo and performed on the main stage. The other cowboy was the great Chris LeDoux.

Williams is from Moorcroft, Wyoming. He was a successful saddle bronc rider on the circuit, and then his career path changed to music. Before Chancey went solo, he was a member of the Younger Brothers Band. They had a good regional run. In the fall of 2013, Williams signed with HomeSlice Artist Management. He has released 5 studio albums. His latest single is called “Take One ForThe Team”. Just a few weeks ago he made his fifth appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage. Chancey Williams will open the show as part of a doubleheader headliner on Friday, July 4th at the Roundup City Stage at 7pm.

Neal McCoy is one of country music’s greatest showmen. He hit the charts in the early 90’s. He had two #1 singles back to back with “No Doubt About It” and “Wink”. The album that contained those hits went platinum. He later had two more platinum albums and a gold album, as well as six more top 10 hits He will follow Chancey Williams on July 4th. There’s not a better performer touring today, and he’s a tremendous ambassador for America. The best fireworks show in Montana by the Roundup Skylighters, Perrella’s Fireworks, and Montana Poor Boy Pyrotechnics follows the Neal McCoy show.

The morning of the 4th starts off with the annual Bird Walk at 7am at the Riverwalk. At 9am the Mimosa Mile will be at the Roundup City Stage. It gets bigger every year. There’s a $10 fee with RIDE ticket. Otherwise it’s $20. All participants get a souvenir to take home.

Saturday, July 5th local singer-songwriter Mallory Morgan will open the evening show with her main stage debut. She’s a recent graduate of Roundup High School. She has performed at various venues and is a favorite around the area. Jason Larson has been taking the stage at RIDE for over 10 years. He is always a crowd favorite and he knows how to deliver a great performance. He’ll follow Mallory Morgan.

The headliner on the Saturday evening show is one of the coolest country groups out there today, LANCO. They’re out of Nashville and they’re all great songwriters. Formed nearly a decade ago, LANCO has cemented itself as one of country music’s most dynamic acts. Their debut album, “Hallelujah Nights” landed at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Album chart and featured the 2x Platinum hit, “Greatest Love Story”, as well as the Platinum certified “Born To Love You”. Their discography also includes EPs “Lessons Learned”, “Honky Tonk Hippies”, and “Run, Run, Run Baby”. With their upcoming sophomore album, We’re Gonna Make It on Riser House Records, LANCO continues to evolve with a fresh and authentic sound. The band has been nominated for multiple awards, including the CMA’s, American Music Awards, iHeart Radio Music Awards, and Academy of Country Music Awards. At that one they won New Duo/Group of the Year. They are in the midst of their We’re Gonna Make It Tour. It started in Minneapolis in February 2025. Among the acts they have worked with are Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, and Brooks and Dunn.

You can get tickets to the shows at 1st Security Bank and IGA in Roundup. Also, you can purchase tickets on the RIDE website. Just go to roundupride.com. This year you get tickets that will be turned in at the gate for wristbands, and they’ll get you into both shows and most other events. The price is $50 for adults and $5 for children 6-12. You can also get the latest information on RIDE’s page.

There will be a golf tournament on July 3rd at Pine Ridge Golf Course in Roundup. Kids Kountry will be in City Park, along with the Midway West Carnival that runs July 4-6th. You can purchase early bird all day passes at the Trade Show, or at Picchioni’s IGA, First Security Bank, Valley Credit Union, or The Roundup Liquor Store #44.

Signal Peak Energy is once again our Presenting sponsor. Our two other major sponsors are Briggs Distributing and Stifel Investments.

It’s going to be the best shows yet. You don’t want to miss two great nights of music at RIDE 2025, and all the other events, including a Corn hole tournament, and you might see a dinosaur or two around. There will be Midway West Carnival from July 4-6th in the park. Tickets are sold separately . You can get all day ride passes for $20 if purchased before the Carnival gets to town. Get tickets for Carnival at IGA, 1st Security Bank, Liquor Store #44, or Valley Credit Union.

If you’re not in the crowd at RIDE, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. Just ask your neighbor. See you buckaroos and buckarettes.
