Pre-election Tuesday today. Fun!
I honestly don’t care (nor do I ever ask) what party someone belongs to when they ask for a big reservation, even when I know that reservation will have a political agenda. I simply don’t care though. As long as everyone “is civil”, don’t attack people who think differently, and we can either avoid to interact, or have a dialogue where we can exchange the viewpoints (worse case agree to disagree), all is good. I believe, that behind every person regardless the skin color, culture, gender, race, income level, etc. is a human person with his own needs, wants, dreams, and wishes. A person that fights their own battle and does what is possible for them within their opportunities. Have your political opinion but be kind as we all fighting our own battles.
As a private person, I have a strong political opinion; as a restaurant owner, I try to keep out as best as I can. Republican or Democrat, I don’t judge anyone, and everyone is welcomed at the Biergarten, and deserves to have a good German beer and food.
As a small business owner, there is no way around working with the city. I engage more with the city of Rocklin (deal with them/they with me) than as I engage with the city of Roseville where I am a resident: with the fire department, health department, police department, city development, code enforcement, campaign kickoff events, with the Sergeant of the Placer County Culinary Jail program,…
Some regulations of the city make me facepalm (you know my weird German logic), but I have made nothing but great experiences with the City of Rocklin.
I also couldn’t care less what party our City Councils are in. I care how they treat us small business owners. I became “closer” to Bill Halldin and Dave Bass, as they continuously throughout all the years, kept stopping by, supported, checked on us, trying to help if there was a problem. To me, it feels very authentic, believable, showing in acts what they are talking about: Supporting small businesses! THIS personal effort, creating real connections, seeing their faces, their smiles behind the email address,…is what’s makes me supporting a candidate – even if I don’t know his/her party.
I support David Bass today, mainly because he never disappointed me and my business – and also because he stopped by on his birthday with his lovely wife who shares the same name as I – to enjoy a good beer with me (picture; I did think that was very sweet of them- no agenda; just wanted to enjoy a German beer on a special day).
Sean Frame (State Senate candidate) who certainly supports us too, and enjoys German beers (but I don’t really “work” with him) will have his election watch “party” tonight in the back (game room/brewmaster) -as a heads up. Just please remember – we all have different opinions, but your voice and thirst matter!
Don’t forget to vote today, and then don’t forget to have a good beer.
Today, it’s once again Prost to the voices of the Americans. No matter what you vote for, voting shows one thing: that we still care, still hope, and have not forgotten that sometimes even one small voice can make a difference!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
