Illumination DV Day 2026
Turn the Neighborhood Purple for Domestic Violence Awareness Month!
This October 8th, let’s light up our homes and communities to send a powerful message:

“Domestic violence should not be hidden in the dark,” said I.Geena Cruz, of Heels of Greatness, Inc “When we turn our neighborhoods purple, we are sending a message of hope, solidarity, and support to survivors while reminding our communities that everyone has a critical role in creating safer homes and neighborhoods.”
"Domestic violence should not be hidden in the dark. Together, we can shine a light on domestic violence awareness, prevention, support, and hope."

💜 Light your porch purple💜 Illuminate your sidewalk.💜 Brighten your walkway.💜 Turn your neighborhood purple.

YOUR LIGHT MATTERS.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? CUT IT OUT!

Behind every barber and salon chair is a trusted connection. Your chairs are more than just places for cuts, fades, braids, and styles. They are safe spaces where people open up, share their lives, and feel seen.

On October 16–17, we are calling on local barbershops, hair salons, and stylists to take a stand for our community during the Can You Hear Me Now? Cut It Out" Weekend- REFUSE TO BE SILENT. Turn your shops and salons PURPLE!

As beauty and grooming professionals, you are in a unique position to be a lifeline.

Oct 16/17th weekend is about equipping your shops to:

Start the conversation and break the stigma around domestic violence.

Recognize the warning signs in plain sight.

Connect clients with real support and life-saving community resources.

Help save lives right from behind the chair.

Get your shop involved, request resource materials, or schedule training: Email [email protected]

Together, we can build a safer, stronger, and more compassionate community. Stomp Out Domestic Violence Break the silence. Change a life.
