I wasn't always social. I wouldn't say I was an introvert, but I was very careful of my surroundings and who I kept around. Growing up where and how I grew up, we all had to be mindful of our circles.
As I got older, I found myself opening up more. Learning more about myself and realizing that meeting people was a beautiful thing. Today, I love meeting new people. I love to be social. Have people over my house and have great times.
I've always had it in the back of my mind that it would be nice to one day have a bar where I could meet people, host their company, share laughs and build memories. Well that one day came to fruition last June of 2025 with the support of a lot of people.
Since then, I've met countless amazing people and got the chance to share laughs, great times and build amazing memories. However, it hasn't been easy. Opening and running a bar & restaurant is by far the hardest business to ever operate. Especially, when I still have a full time job and also run a real estate business. The hours are endless and work is fierce but guess what? I absolutely LOVE IT!
As the summer weather withered away, so did alot of my clientele. It got harder and harder with each passing day, week and month. There were plenty of times where I left the bar thinking, "man, I'm not going to make it!" I was legit scared.
Eventually, I had to cut employees, employee hours and cut days just to survive. By the time I knew it, I was left with 2 days a week. Fridays and Saturdays.
Now, I never set out to do the "club type" of nights, but that's what the people demanded. To think back now, it was those very weekend people who saved my business. So before I carry on, I want to say from the bottom of my heart, I deeply and sincerely thank you all. You guys all were there when others weren't. We partied, laughed and built countless memories.
I salute each and every one of you. 🫡🫶
With that being said, the 1 year anniversary is upon us. The one thing I wanted so bad is just about here. I just wanted to complete year 1. Set goals, achieve them, then set the hurdle for the next set of goals. The biggest hurdle in this business IS the 1st year and now we are going to celebrate that momentous milestone by going big.
Friday, June 5th, we will have La Nueva Secuencia and Saturday, June 6th, we will bring back my personal favorite band. The legendary La Muralla.
If any of you were around for my birthday last November then you know how packed it is going to be, so I advise that you get there as early as possible as space is limited.
The patio will be set back up and I am confident that GOD will bless us with amazing weather. 🌞🙏
Before, I end this post. I want to give a special thank you to everyone who has ever worked for me, past and present. You all had a hand in helping this dream come true. Even if you are not longer employed with us, just you are appreciated. So I hope that you all can make it out to celebrate with us.
So mark it in your calendars. IF you have something going on..... CANCEL IT!!!
Nothing and I mean absolutely NOTHING will be bigger than what we have going on during that weekend.
In closing, thank you to each and every individual that has come through our front doors the past year and supported us. You are all true SOXIALIZERS. And to the ones that haven't yet..... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!? 🤷♂️🤦♂️🤣
Thank you, I appreciate you and look forward to many more years at Porto Roc Soxial Lounge.
STAY BLESSED 🙏
