Lux has no words for the loss we are feeling. Jay Lincoln was such a huge part of the Lux family and we have all been extremely lucky to have had him grace our quirky little bar for the past 24 years. Not only has he been a close friend to so many, but he was also the kindest man you could meet. He was funny, and witty, and charming, soft spoken, a good listener, a ginormous talent, and extremely humble. He could literally talk to anybody and you instantly felt at ease. He was goofy, was always good for a giggle and his brain was constantly filling up with new ideas.

With Jay there was always a collaboration in the works and talks about a new show or the painting he was working on at the time. I knew Lux's wall would never run the risk of being bare because Jay had paintings and drawings for miles. They melded so perfectly within our space and felt like they were always meant to be there. And so many people got to see his amazing talent! Thousands! And many were lucky enough to be able to take some home. And every home that had a Jay Lincoln on the walls was a place I would want to be. His art made everything more fun and vibrant, just like him.

This loss is extra hard not having Lux open to celebrate his life. It just reminds me how important it is to have a gathering place for times like these. Lux was his spot. It was his creative outlet and his home-away-from-home, like it is for so many. We are having a gathering this Saturday at Star Alley Park (10/3) from 1pm-5pm to celebrate our friend and share stories. Once Lux is back open, we will go big and do it all over again. There is a lot of love to go around. His friendship circle was huge, as you can see thumbing through his Tarot Art Deck. Those are all the people he cherished and loved and holy heck there are a lot of them!

We will miss you Jay. So incredibly much. I raise a glass in your honor and will continue your legacy by filling our space with art. And, a little football. Go Bills!

A huge THANK YOU to Abilene Bar and Lounge for opening your doors and helping make yesterday such a special and successful day in support of Lux Lounge. ❤️
A very special shout-out to Danny Deutsch, Raven Strong, Simeon Sergent, Tracey Mykins, and DJ Ben Frazier for all the work, generosity, and good energy you put into making this event happen. We couldn't have asked for better people to help us keep the spirit of Lux alive.
And most of all, thank you to everyone who came out to support us. It was so nice to see so many familiar faces, friends, and members of our community showing up to support us—and maybe bust a move or two. 💃🕺
Yesterday was a beautiful reminder of what makes Rochester so special: a community filled with amazing, generous, and supportive people.
