After 40 years, new release day can still spark joy.
Two words: Rubber Soul.

Also of note , some exceptionally nice vintage receivers on the shelves today.
Every one professionally refurbed and meets or beats orig factory spec.

I’ve said this before on this page, but it bears repeating.
A good portion of the repairs we do here, are on units purchased on the internet, and advertised as “serviced”.
A term that can mean anything from, they put in some LED’s and sprayed it with contact cleaner.
Or worse, some guy who knew just enough to dangerous, did a sloppy “ restoration “ with ill advised parts.
You don’t get a pig in a poke at Hi Fi Lounge.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 26..
Second, now annual, Hi Fi Lounge sidewalk sale!
Once again my basement is bulging at the proverbial seams.
Every LP and CD, in the sale outside will be $2!
No exceptions.
And there will be plenty to choose from.
These things are a lot of fun because at 2 bucks you can take chances on music you might not typically collect. .
Please note: last year I had some folks (rightly) upset that I let people in before the advertised start time. This year to be fair to everyone. The sale will start at 11:30AM and end at 6:00.

I’ve been eyeing some of these new mini-sized lines for a while now, and wasn’t sure if I wanted to bring any in.
But I met with the Fosi folks in Chicago at the AXPONA audio show, and came away pretty impressed. They’re attractive, smartly engineered, and pretty darn inexpensive, for what you get..
I think they make sense in the right situation.

Next, as some of you have heard, the Hi Fi Lounge is recently, officially up for sale.

Just to clear up any confusion (there has been some) - the store is absolutely, positively, Not closing. I turned 65 this year, the store turned 40, and I’ve got some 'next phase of life' plans I’m ready to start pursuing. It’s quite likely I’ll still be around part time, once it does sell, for a smooth transition. So no teary goodbyes yet.

A long-time customer buddy is downsizing. He made me an offer I couldn’t refuse on these very capable Paradigm Studio 80V2 speakers. I have no where to put them right now as the tiny lounge here is quite full at the moment. So as they say “Passing the savings on” . Functionally excellent, cosmetics are not flawless but quite respectable. These were around $1600 when they were new. $375 for the pair.

Since their introduction, the Wharfedale Lintons have been one of the most successful designs in all of high end audio.
In a proverbial nutshell, they are revealing but never fatiguing.
Wharfedale is running a deal till Aug 23.

My first location on Mt Hope Ave. The store turns 40 this Summer.
The first 9 months I worked 7 days a week, which I don't recommend.
Then Bob showed up and never left (thank god) and it's been 6 days ever since..
Truth be told I could've gone to 5 days a week, about 38 years ago, but the store is my He**in.
Even a ju**ie has to take a break at some point though.
So I'm closing Mondays from here on out, if I can handle the withdrawls.
