Tiger Claw Brewery and Hops Kick-ass beer crafted from locally sourced ingredients and homegrown hops. Beer just got better. This is where our love of hops growing began.

Tiger Claw Brewery and Hops Yard is owned and operated by two DePauw alumni who are proud of their Black and Gold heritage. The owners met on campus and were later married in 2002 at DePauw’s most iconic building, East College. Our focus on small batch/high quality beer comes as a natural extension of Black and Gold excellence. Our flagship beers currently include three brews (Cream Ale, Brown Ale

, and hopped American Pale Ale) that will be extremely approachable for all zymurgy enthusiasts. In addition to these beers, we will have seasonal and special releases to keep even the most discerning beer geeks coming back for more. At the end of the day, we want to make the best beer we can by stuffing as much flavor into a bottle as humanly possible. The story of the brewery’s creation is very similar to that of many others, ‘home brewer wanting to become a professional brewer.’ However, our story begins to diverge after that. We quickly became fascinated by the flavor elements of our beer and wanted to enhance the excellence of our products. Our beers will contain our locally grown hops, some of which have yet to be experienced by the beer world. And whenever possible, we will be utilizing other locally sourced ingredients from right here in Putnam County and surrounding areas. The beer industry is exploding, providing countless selections of high quality beers. While starting small, we have the flexibility to innovate and create great beer that will grab your attention. Mashcraft dropped their harvest ale today at all of their taprooms made with our fresh Cascades and Michigan Coppers. This beer does a great job of showcasing the recipe development work done by our brewers to balance the unique qualities of oils from fresh cones with a clean malt backbone. Very proud to have our products in this beer!!!

From the bines to the brewer all in a couple days. Made the annual pilgrimage to Upland Brewing Company to drop off our Cascade pellets for their annual harvest ale. They use a combo of wet hop additions on brew day coupled with dry hopping with freshly processed hops to make a killer beer. Be on the look out for this beer in the near future. We have figured out a way to suck the hops into and out of the hammer mill in a matter of seconds to help preserve the oils that brewers value so much.
