Hi friends of NU,
We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported NU since we have opened this beautiful venue. It's been a very hard, very enjoyable and all in all a very amazing experience we will never forget. We have learned so much from all of you and appreciate and love the Richmond community more than you can imagine.
As we look back on the last year we have no regrets. We have learned so much about the business and culture of Richmond and appreciate and understand how truly challenging it can be.
We want everyone in the community to show up most appreciation for those who have killed themselves for many years in this business and sacrificed everything to make sure the glbt community had a place to call home - let's all give a big thanks to the following Richmond heroes... Raul Cantu from Nacho Mama's, Vicky from Babes, Brian and Mark from Godfreys & all our friends at Barcode.
These are people who have bent over backwards for this community and deserve our forever support and love. The ongoing challenges of owning a venue like this can quickly sink you if you are not strong and determined. It makes you sacrifice absolutely everything just so you can hopefully keep your business afloat. It is one of the most challenging operations we will ever face but are very proud to say "we did it and it was awesome". Unfortunately NU will be Closing it's doors Friday for good. We have officially sold the venue to an amazing new owner that will take the things we loved about it like the live music aspect and bring it to new heights. I wish I could share more about the new venue with you because you will be thrilled - however I will leave that announcement to the new owner who has fallen in love with this amazing space. Let's just say expect amazing service, amazing live music and a gorgeous venue you will love.
As we prepare to lock the doors we just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported and loved us and the beautiful space we created. Our hearts are filled with happiness and sadness as we move forward but we are also very excited for what's ahead and what is to come at 2729 west broad street. We truly love all of you from the bottom of our hearts and it makes us cry thinking about the fun we have had with you and the amazing staff we will forever love. We are 100% fine and will be ok so don't worry : ) this was one of the hardest decisions we have ever made and when it came down to it we realized that this would be the best thing for us and the future of Richmond. We love all of you and want to say thank you for making us smile, laugh, cry and enjoy everything about this beautiful city! We will forever be connected to you!
Please come out this Thursday night "Feb 5th 8pm" for NUs very last dance night ever! We will have a huge farewell show, amazing djs and a club full of loving people that is our family forever! We will see you all Thursday night for NUs "this is it" party! We love you Richmond!!!!
