Tonight’s Spotlight!

Meet Rachel Z! She first was a guest here and enjoyed dinners and book club gatherings with her friends and family here. One night we got to talking and she wanted to pick up shifts! She was the easiest trained employee because she already knew our menu and worked in restaurants and bars before working corporate jobs! She helps GT when we are a little short staffed!

Rachel is from Fredericksburg and is a Triplet! She graduated with a Chemistry degree from Virginia Tech class of ‘15! She is currently working on becoming a Nurse! She has a passion for helping others and will be successful with that!

In her free time, she walks her two beautiful dogs, Winter & Milo. She loves national parks and wants to Hike every single one of them for her bucket list. She loves a great book and a good true crime. She is excited for Football season because let’s go Browns! And she has a fantasy football team! We are so grateful to have Rachel apart of our Team and can always count on her!

Spotlight of the week!

Many guests sometimes don’t get to meet who is behind the scenes at The Greek Taverna! This is our newest Chef, Angel, who joined the team at the beginning of 2026!

He has an extensive background in cooking. He graduated from James River High School class of ‘13!🌊 Angel has two dogs, Princess (yorkie/chihuahua) and Lulu (chocolate Lab) that he adores so much, but not as much as Noe, in which they celebrated their 4 year Wedding Anniversary last week! Fun fact…they got married in Hawaii!! 🌺🌺

Angel has learned 🇬🇷Greek Cuisine🇬🇷 very quickly and executes it with love every single day. His favorite thing to cook right now is Surf & Turf Pasta. He makes the sauce to order consistently every time! Angel also makes a delicious Beef Stew too! Look out for soup of the day this winter!

In his free time, he likes to be at the beach! During winter months watching movies and a nice dinner out is a perfect day! His favorite w**e is a crisp Moscato! Angel is currently teaching himself the Guitar.

**SOLD OUT**
Beef Stifado is a traditional Greek Dish! It was a hit last night and we have a few orders left tonight!! Tender beef simmered for hours in an aromatic red w**e sauce with sweet whole shallots over Mashed Potatoes! Melt in your mouth yummmm!

Friday Spotlight!

Meet Chris M who is part of the Front of the House Team as a Waiter & Host. He joined us first in the summer of 2022. He actually started in the Kitchen and moved to front of house summer of ‘23 as a first time waiter and has shined!

He was Born & raised in Baltimore, MD and served in the U.S Air Force as an Air Plane Mechanic from 2002-2010. Thank him for his duty in the Middle East. He has a 4 year old son that he absolutely adores and is a proud dad!

Chris loves Club Sandwiches & Chicken Philly Subs at GT (no tomato). His drink of choice would be an IPA B**r. In his free time he likes video games, walks in the fan, telling and hearing a really good Dad Joke and most of all watching The Ravens play and anything NFL! 🏈🐦‍⬛ He also is a GREAT dancer and can be a side act with Stefan for birthday songs!

Chris works every dinner shift and Wednesday & Friday lunches!

Introducing Stefan D! He is part of our Front of the House Staff and is excited to serve you next time you come to get your Greek fix!

Stefan was born in Connecticut and is a 1st generation Greek! His Parents immigrated to the US and raised their family in Connecticut then moved to Virginia in 1978. He has a younger sister that lives in Richmond as well.

Stefan went to VCU and studied Music & Health and plays the Tuba with No BS Brass. Follow No BS to find out where he will play next! He has been in many popular bands over his music career such as The Ernies, Fighting Gravity and Bio Ritmo. He is an extremely talented and respected musician and even helps out at Freeman every summer for Band Camp!

In his free time…he loves to travel (takes a yearly trip to the motherland Greece), watch NBA basketball (Go Celtics!), explore cities & museums and taking in all of what life can show you.

He joined The Greek Taverna Family in the summer of 2020 and will play the trombone for your party if celebrating a bday (he accepts tips/gifts 😜). Stefan works Wednesday- Saturdays.
