Dear Tommy's family,
We hope you're doing well and enjoying the winter weather and holidays! We understand some of you were hoping for an update related to the October kitchen grease fire. Here is what we know so far: the grease fire resulted in a lot of heat and smoke damage. The smoke left soot inside the building practically everywhere - front to back, top to bottom. Although it would be nice if we could be allowed to just wipe that soot off the surfaces, we've learned that isn't allowed for safety reasons (it's carcinogenic). So, everything on the inside is required to be removed - in fact, the whole building will be stripped down to the studs on the inside. I know that's sad news, for you and for us. We've made many memories within those walls, just as you have. Rest assured, we have been guided in this process by some great professionals who are familiar in these processes. From the excellent first responders and crews that showed up late that night of the fire, to the damage and restoration professionals who have assessed the damage and tried to provide answers to our many questions. We are humbled and thankful to each and every one of them. We are also thankful for our neighbors at Whiskey River and their customers who saw the fire and called it in. Undoubtedly this could've been much worse had someone not acted quickly and called for help. We are reminded of the importance of community, and of togetherness. We all have gathered under our funny little roof and shared many memories. We hope you are safe and warm and making memories this holiday season. We count ourselves blessed that each of you has been a part of our lives, and we promise to update more as the process unfolds. We've been told due to the damage, we are looking at a minimum of 6 months, but likely longer.
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
