So Beer NV has closed its doors… damn.Damn because it’s gone, but also damn because it was a hell of a decade.
This past week has brought a lot of thoughts. Sadness, joy, gratitude. But not a single regret.
We opened Beer NV hoping to bring a true neighborhood bar to South Reno and maybe leave a mark. I think we did both.
We built the largest craft and import draft list in Nevada. Hosted the biggest tap takeover in state history. Threw a beer festival people still talk about (shoutout to Dan, it never would’ve happened without you). Poured Pliny the Younger before anyone else in Nevada.
But honestly, those things pale in comparison to the community that grew inside our walls.
We watched strangers become friends. We hosted birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, even weddings. We tried to be a place where anyone could walk in and feel welcome.
We’ll miss the Tuesday night trivia teams, the inside jokes at the bar, and the nights that went a little longer than planned.
And we were lucky enough to have some of the best bartenders in Reno, from our OG crew to the team that helped us close the doors.
There are rumors about why we closed. Truth is, it wasn’t one thing. Running a bar today is just harder than it used to be. Social habits changed. Drinking habits changed. Spending habits changed. The world changed. And that’s okay.
Every chapter ends.
All we can really say is thank you.
Thank you to the regulars who became friends.Thank you to the one-time visitors who gave us a shot.Thank you to the brewers, reps, and suppliers who helped us punch above our weight.Thank you to everyone who stood behind our bar and made Beer NV what it was.
If Beer NV was ever your spot, your meetup place, or your “one more beer” stop, we hope you keep supporting the local spots that are still out there doing it. They’re pouring their hearts into it the same way we did.
If you have a favorite Beer NV memory, hold onto it. We will too.
Ten years went by fast, but the memories will last a lot longer.
Beer NV out.— Jaimi
