Due to extensive damage from Hurricane Helene, Seabreeze Island Grill has faced significant structural damages. As a result, we have placed all employees in "termination" status to ensure they can collect unemployment benefits during this difficult time.
๐จPeople may ask why we would do this: If they were not in that status, they would not be able to receive benefits. Had we chosen to keep them on an active employment roster, they would not qualify for Unemployment Benefits.
We understand the impact of this decision and want to emphasize that it was not made lightly. We have offered our team members the option to apply for positions at other locations within our organization as these locations reopen. There is nothing more that we want than to have Seabreeze fully operational; that is not possible in its current state.
While we are committed to reopening Seabreeze in the future, we do not yet have a timeline for that due to the extent of the repairs needed.
For our team members, weโve provided guidance on how to apply for unemployment and have included contact information for our HR department to assist with any questions.
Rest assured, all donations that were made to the Pinellas Community Foundation are also being distributed to the team at Seabreeze! Pinellas Community Foundation is a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization Registered with the State of Florida.
We started the donation campaign because we were asked by many how they could help support our team. Please keep in mind that with these funds allocated to our team, any intent to misrepresent these efforts, either through ignorance or ill intent, harms vulnerable folks at a time in need. Pinellas Community Foundation handles all collections received as they are an organization who specializes in this and will handle all distribution for our team members. We as company do not have access to these funds or account.
Thank you for your support during this time.
