Did you know that Franklin Street Station opened in 1930, when Railroad passenger travel was already beginning to face competition from automobiles? Many railroads were cutting back, but the Reading Railroad still invested in a grand new Station for its hometown.

We have recieved conflicting reports on the actual route of the Big Boy 4014. We have contacted Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific, and other various outlets and have gotten different responses. As of now, we believe the Big Boy will NOT be passing by the Franklin Station. If we hear otherwise, we will plan accordingly to welcome as many as we can to watch the train pass by. We apologize for any confusion, as of course that was not our intent. We want to see the train too! Thank you to everyone for your understanding.
