For years, we worked so hard to provide something more than a venue or "shows" to our community. I, always felt that I owed something to the next generation of young people and wanted to harbor a safe place where, like Jesus' presence, people could 'come as they are."

We have been so blessed for over a decade to partner and minister along side Sleeping Giant and Facedown Records familia.

Sleeping Giant has been the trailblazer and a pivotal piece in God's plan for the IE and around the world. It was amazing to be a witness to everything Sleeping Giant built and paved the way for others.

It was about 2009 ( I think??) when I first met Johnny. Like many kids that came to Gritty, he was young, wild and full of fire. Johnny would always help before or after shows set up or tear down our church sanctuary so we could have shows.

There are many people I remember and prayed for... Johnny was one of them. My heart aches and is in pain to see a wonderful young man lose his life to violence.

I always felt that what Nitty Gritty was, was more than a 'venue' or a place that had 'shows'. What made it special was the fact that a gave 'US' a place to have community and build friendships that surpassed a scene. Hardcore gave me a hope as a teen and is a huge part of who I am and has helped me grow in my relationship with God.

Through the grace of God, Jesus has showed me to love, help and encourage people... I am now freeing myself up to get together with anyone who needs an ear to listen or just have life talks with.

in 2012 my wife and I stepped down from hosting gritty and our home bible studies to focus on full time ministry in Venice Beach and raising our kids. Looking back It may seem that I left everything Gritty was behind and that includes some of you guys, for that I apologize.

My purpose in life is to see you grow and help you in any way succeed in life. I mourn Johnny and I can't help think about the great future he could've had... even with the evils of the world, there is still hope. I know that hope.

I hope that you feel my heart and know that I am back in Rancho Cucamonga serving in my church.

For the past few months I have been hosting a bible study on Wednesdays at Klatch Coffee in Rancho (foothill and vineyard). I invite you to join us if you have time.

I hope to reunite with some of you guys and I pray that I see some of you who knew Johnny tomorrow at his candlelight memorial.

I love you guys and much more important Jesus loves you.

This is Preston aka **er, long story oh his nickname. He just now walked into my church office. He was looking for any kind of food donations. As I spent time talking to him, I could tell he was on drugs. I shared some food we had from . I then outside shared the Gospel and the love of . He accepted The Lord and then I prayed for him. He came in tweeking from doing speed this morning. He just left sober minded and waking straight. God is doing amazing things. What a blessing it is to honor the poor and bless them. I was once lost and wreckless and God saved me where I was. The Good News is free! As free as I received it, I freely give it. I challenge you to be that hope in a lost world. I encourage you to stand up to justice and overcome the world and their false agendas. What I have you can't buy homeboy! Jesus still saves, still heals and still lives.
