Now hiring for a Field Investigator!

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented professional to help investigate complaints involving licensees, qualifiers, and unlicensed contractors across North Carolina.

This role involves fieldwork, interviews, site visits, records review, and preparing clear, well-documented reports. Investigators also support hearings and court proceedings and may present to stakeholder groups.

Candidates should bring strong investigative skills, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations. Experience with construction codes, North Carolina statutes, and investigative procedures is strongly preferred, along with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

*While not required, candidates residing in Western North Carolina are strongly preferred.

Before a license can be renewed, all qualifiers must verify their continued association with the license. On the bottom of the “Renewal at a Glance” page, there is a section for license qualifier verifications. The “Renewal at a Glance” page is the first page you see anytime you start or continue a renewal application.

If you are wanting to make your inactive license active again, you must complete the required 8 hours of Continuing Education. If your license has been inactive for more than 2 years, you'll need 16 hours of CE to make it active.
