Q&A TIME! Below are some common questions we receive regarding the event.
1. Why do balloons only fly in the morning during the event and where do they land?
The hot air balloons launch Fri–Sun around 7AM, weather permitting. Arrive by 6:30 AM to watch the entire setup! Cooler morning air helps provide lift, and calmer winds make for safer flying. Landings vary with the wind.
Flights can last anywhere from 20 minutes to 1½ hours. Balloons land wherever the wind takes them, so landing locations vary. Safety is always the top priority, and pilots only fly when conditions are safe.
2. When and where is Night Glow?
New this year, the Night Glow will be held at the Prosser Airport. Gates open at 6 PM and the balloons will start glowing after dusk. Weather permitting of course! Park and Ride options will be available with Ben Franklin Transit again this year!
3. How do I get a balloon ride?
Rides are NOT available for purchase; rides are reserved for event sponsors. However, one individual will be selected by raffle to ride during Sunday morning’s launch (weather permitting)! $1 raffle tickets are available at the memorabilia stand on the airfield or downtown during the Harvest Festival. Drawing will be held at the start of the Night Glow. Interested in sponsoring future rallies? Message us to be added to our contact list!
4. Is there an admission fee?
This is a FREE event! We have no admission fees to night glow or the morning launches. Feel free to come out and take photos and see the gorgeous hot air balloons. There is a donation box available at the memorabilia stand if you would like to support next year’s rally. All donations are greatly appreciated!
5. Where do the balloons launch from each morning?
The Prosser Airport, 111 Nunn Road, Prosser, WA 99350.
6. What is the date for next year’s event?
The event is held on the last full weekend in September each year. Next year this will be on September 24-26, 2027.
