Hello everyone! This is Krista the former lessee of Buckhorn. I have to get something off of my chest. I have mulled over what to write for a few days before posting this. After a rather unpleasant attack (because of my political beliefs) on Facebook by someone in the community last week and again today I have decided enough is enough. When these folks don't like my beliefs they started trash talking about Buckhorn. I am not going to sit here and keep my mouth closed any longer. I am going to put some misinformation, gossip, and downright LIES to rest. My mom and I LEASED the Buckhorn for 12 months from the current owner. We did not buy the building. We did not fail in the business. We didn't go bankrupt. We didn't run the business down. We didn't not make it. In the 12 months we leased the business we were quite surprised at how much we made the business grow with our new menu items, homemade soups, macaroni and cheese, and our famous desserts.
We CHOSE to leave. There were several factors to why we didn't decide to renew the lease. One of the major factors was the Fox River floods. We survived 2 major floods in our 12 month lease. There were some other factors and I will keep the rest of the reasons of why we chose to leave private. Those of you who know my mom and I personally know those reasons. I AM SICK AND TIRED of my name and my 70 year old mom's name being dragged through the mud by some very unhappy people in this community. I am tired of the lies and misthruths that are said about me around town by the gossipmongers. TO THE PEOPLE WHO SPREAD THE LIES AND GOSSIP- If you have something to say about me or my mom you can come and say it directly to my face instead of hiding behind a keyboard and a phone screen. To my loyal friends and customers I thank you for the great year we had at Buckhorn and all of the positive reviews you gave us. I miss many of you. I miss making my famous bread puddings, soups, and sandwiches. My mom misses making her AMAZING cheesecakes. I miss making people smile while creating a delicious cocktail for you. But......mom and I are much happier where we are now...... my dear mom is permanently RETIRED at 70! We just celebrated her birthday last month. As for me......I have found an awesome job that I love and am quite happy only working 30-40 hours a week. Again I want to thank my friends and customers and I wish you all the best for a happy 2020 and to my haters...... well I wish you karma. :)
