Thinking back to this blank slate we turned into a restaurant 10 years ago. This building was once home to La Luna, a storied and, dare we say, iconic all-ages music venue. Hosting everyone from Nirvana to Sleater-Kinney, Pearl Jam, and the sorely missed Elliott Smith, La Luna was part of a special era in Portland. With heavy hearts, we’re sharing that Bar Casa Vale will be closing, with our final dinner service on 4/25.

After nearly 10 beautiful years in one of Portland’s most charming spaces, it’s time for this chapter to come to a close.

Choosing to let our lease end was not easy, but we know it is the right decision. And while goodbyes are always hard, they have a way of reminding you just how much a place has meant.

If there is any comfort in this farewell, it’s that we are leaving on a high note. Thanks to this extraordinary team, the support of our community, and the return of Portland Dining Month, March was one of our busiest months since last spring. A beautiful reminder of how deeply Bar Casa Vale has been loved, and how special it still feels.

We are so grateful to everyone who made this place what it became. To our team, past and present. To our vendors, partners, and collaborators. And to every guest who filled this room with laughter, connection, celebration, and so many unforgettable memories.

Over the next two weeks, we’d love nothing more than to share one last meal and raise one last glass with you. Join us for a final tapas, a toast or two, and a heartfelt goodbye.

Start with your choice of tapas (okay… maybe a few exceptions), followed by either our grilled pasture-raised Farmer’s Network pork chop or our grilled chorizo-stuffed half chicken. Dessert is our fan-favorite Basque cheesecake.

Sherry Week is coming to Bar Casa Vale November 4–9!!

Join us in celebrating Sherry Week, a tribute to Spain’s most expressive and versatile wine.

One Night Only – Sherry Tasting Event | Tuesday, November 4
Experience the incredible diversity of sherry in a casual, walk-around tasting format. We’ll be pouring nine unique styles from six bodegas, each paired with small snack bites crafted to complement their character, from dry, briny olive bombs to lush, sweet Pedro Ximénez.

This is a standing tasting inspired by Spanish wine shops.
Please book a separate dinner reservation if you’d like to stay for a full meal or drinks afterward.
Allow at least 30 minutes to enjoy all nine wines.
