Not entirely sure how to write this, but sadly Botanist is Closed. We opened up during the best of times in a neighborhood that was vibrant and trendy. We open on the principles of a small classy cocktail bar with the friendliness of a neighborhood haunt. We wanted to push boundaries and question those that came before us in order to push the craft and art that is drinking well. Covid came and between trying to help the community, supporting those that were worse off than ourselves we made the choice to move upstairs. And while that choice was probably the only one that we had, it then became an impossible journey that we can no longer weather. And sadly our motley pirate ship has sailed its last voyage and will come to rest. Thank you all for the memories, we will cherish them as we all head out on the next journey.

Super excited to announce my pop up downstairs at the original next Thursday (the 11th). Please direct message me, text me, or email me if you can make it:)
$50 - 3 course cocktail tasting menu plus one cocktail (your favorite) to take home
+ $25 some fun bar bites that I’ve procured from around Oregon.

Features spirits on this menu are from Oregon distilleries. just to name a few.

Time slots are 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm. Maximum 15 people per sitting. This is going to be me and me only holding court behind the bar and ushering in a new age of bar experiences at our bar. Cheers!

THURS, OCT 14th: George Mitchell Quartet

George Mitchell has been pop superstar Diana Ross' first-call pianist for almost 40 years, and he continues to tour with her musical ensemble performing before audiences worldwide.

John Nastos: Multi-instrumentalist John Nastos was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, where he found his love of music while exploring the vibrant local scene. He has toured extensively with Grammy-winning vocalist Dianne Schuur, playing performances with her in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has also toured with the Grammy-winning artist Esperanza Spalding.

Chris Lee: As a composer, vibraphonist & drummer Chris Lee brings a distinct perspective to his music. In addition to having performed and recorded his own music he has worked with such diverse artists as Joe Henderson, Lew Tabackin, Fred Hersch, Sheila Jordan, Gary Peacock, Ron Miles, Mose Allison, John Handy, Ernie Watts, Nancy King, Glen Moore, David "Fathead" Newman, George Cables, David Friesen, Kenny Werner, Nguyen Lee, Sonny Simmons, Plas Johnson and others.

The NW Women Rhythm & Blues group performs specialty shows produced by Sonny Hess since the early 80’s. These unique shows are comprised of the top female performers in the region as well as newly scouted talent to be introduced to the Portland blues scene. Here are a few names you might recognize that got their start in the area with The NW Women group: Lisa Mann, Ellen Whyte, Rae Gordon, Naomi T, Lady Kat just to mention a few. These women have gone on to win multiple awards locally, regional, and nationally.
