Hello!
we have received many questions over the last year regarding 555 gift certificates. We have been trying to figure out the best way to honor as many as possible without putting Petite Jacqueline, which has had an extremely difficult year, out of business.

Please understand this has taken time because 555 and Petite Jacqueline are two separate companies, making the issue more complicated than it seems.

Additionally, we are hoping our community understands that we never intended to close 555 immediately. We made the announcement months in advance, in hopes that customers would be able to use their gift certificates and that we would have time to say goodbye to everyone. However, COVID hit soon thereafter forcing us to close our beloved restaurant and layoff our staff of many years almost over night.

As Petite Jacqueline slowly came back to life, our seating had to be limited. We were focused on keeping as many staff members employed and keeping our head above water. As we increased seating, we then faced staffing issues, which still diminished our capacity both in seating and shifts. Now, we seem to be, finally, finding our stride!

So after a discussion with our accountant, we have decided to honor 555 gift certificates at Petite Jacqueline between January 3rd and June 3rd 2022. We want to do the honorable thing, but we have to protect our staff and enable the restaurant to continue to make its way back to "normal". To that end there will be some restrictions, and we ask that you please respect these knowing the reasons behind them:

please make a reservation and state that you intend to use your gift certificate from 555 as we will need to limit the amount of these Gift certificates per night.
we encourage you to use them during the week and at off-peak times, if possible
we will only accept 555 GC from 2017 and beyond.
please no comp gift certificates
We thank you for your support, understanding, and patience during these difficult times!

If you have any questions, feel free to email us through our website.

Thank you,
The staff and owners of Petite Jacquelin

Hello, I know a lot of you are asking about being able to use your 555 Gift Certificates at Petite Jacqueline. So, yes, our original plan was to let people use them for 6 months at Petite Jacqueline. However, with the unforeseen circumstance and not being able to serve at full capacity at Petite Jacqueline, we are barely holding on. I am sure most of you are aware that a restaurant cannot exist without full occupancy, especially in a seasonal state without its tourists. We are trying everything in our power to stay afloat and keep people employed. We intend to eventually honor 555 Gift certificates for a period of time once PJ is at full capacity. Please understand that if we would let it happen now and we were inundated with guests using 555 Gift certificates it would most likely put us under. If you know us, you know we are honest people- we never intended 555 to close that quickly. We had hoped to give everyone time to use their GC's, but things changed quickly. We are so saddened that 18 years of 555 ended overnight. I know it seems frustrating that you can't use your gift certificate, but please understand how frustrating it is to have your life's work on the precipice of closing and having to furlough 50 employees based on no fault of your own... none of this is easy for any of us and we thank you ahead of time for your understanding.

HI Scarborough friends and neighbors! Steve has been working in the kitchen(totally alone) trying to get some prepared meals together for the Scarborough community. If you are thinking like us, you are not crazy about driving all the way to Portland for meals, so we have brought them to our house.
Here's how it works: We will post the menu each afternoon. you can PM, text or email us your order. Please wait for a confirmation. You can VENMO us the money, -corry-1. Then we will put the order with your name on it in a fridge on the porch. One at a time, so when your order to us also give us a preferred pick up time. After each pick up we will sterilize the fridge. If this works we will keep doing it as long as we can. We are doing this to save food, help some local families and hopefully make enough money to give something to our staffs. Bear with us as this is all new and might have some technical difficulties...
Okay, so tonight's menu: Seafood Chowder(halibut, scallops, mussels, cream, lobster stock, garlic, leaks, onion, celery, thyme, wine, salt, flour(does have shellfish, gluten and dairy). Beet salad with blood orange vinaigrette and goat cheese. House focaccia, double chocolate brownies, and a bottle of white wine. This meal will be a large meal for 2-3. we can double or we can do individual portions of it(ie just soup, or just salad) and without wine if you want. The meal package with wine will be $60.00 all inclusive. Any feedback would be appreciated. Can be ready today in the next 1/2 hour. Stay safe everyone.

To the 555 friends and family,

Steve and I are sorry to say we have made the difficult decision to suspend service and close 555, effective immediately. We have spent the day thinking about this as we take our employees livelihoods very seriously, however, their safety and that of our customers and community is even more important.

We hate going out this way! We are hoping to maybe open for a few nights after this subsides to say goodbye to the community, so stay tuned for a pop-up!

Thank you for an amazing 17 years.

Michelle and Steve

Like many small neighborhood businesses, Five Fifty-Five is indebted to your support at this time and we intend to stay open as long as safely possible to serve our local community. As a small step of precaution, we have decided to close this Monday 3/16 and Tuesday 3/17 to provide space and rest for our staff and community. We will resume service Wednesday 3/18 - taking this day by day.
In addition to our normal dining room hours, we're offering speedy counter-service, curbside to go pickup, and local delivery (coming soon).
Find our menus online and give us a call to place your order!
During this time, we will continue to maintain the upmost level of sanitation and safety for all patrons. We are continually monitoring updates from the CDC and other sources, taking extra precautions to protect our guests and staff by limiting the number of reservations to avoid close contact, switching to digital menus, monitoring our staff's health, and minimizing contact.
We also suggest purchasing gift certificates with other neighborhood spots to support the small businesses Portland thrives on. Thank you for your support and best wishes from our family to yours.

Five Fifty-Five holds the well-being of our guests and staff in the highest regard. As such, we are closely following the development of the recent Covid-19 outbreak and taking all precautions, and are closely monitoring updates from the CDC and Board of Hospitality Maine. With the recent surge in reservations due to our upcoming closure, we have decided to cap the number of tables we can take per evening. This is to ensure we provide outstanding service to everyone who dines with us.
Our already thorough and stringent cleaning and sanitation practices have been ramped up this week, with careful cleaning of all surfaces occurring regularly throughout the day. Our Chefs are certified serve safe, and our staff are taking extra precautions when handling guest transactions, food, and beverages. Hand washing is repeated routinely and often, and we will be seating and serving the restaurant thoughtfully with space and care. We have over seventeen years of experience with sanitation and serve safe excellence. We will also be urging guests to use their devices to view our menus. As always, your health and well-being is our utmost priority.
With that being said, If you can't join us in our dining room, we will also be serving food to go from our counter, as well as curbside pickup. Give us a call and we'll bring the food right to your car! We suggest purchasing gift certificates from, and supporting in any way you can, all local establishments to aid our community in this tight time.
We will continue to operate normally as long as safely possible and our doors will be open to serve you.
