Dinner and a movie gets boring after a while. If you need a solid date spot in Portland, bring them down to play a round in the dark. It works whether it's a first date and you need something to talk about, or you've been together ten years and just want to compete over a round of miniature golf. Loser buys the next round of drinks downtown.

The blacklight artwork on the course looks cool on its own, but there's a way to make it hit different. You can grab a pair of 3D glasses at the front desk for a couple bucks before you start. It makes the walls pop out at you and makes lined-up shots a lot harder to judge. It's totally optional, but it definitely changes how the course plays out.

Mini golf is fine on its own, but it gets better when you have a drink in your hand. If you're over 21, we have a solid lineup of craft b**r, c***r, and sake ready at the counter. Grab a pint before you hit the first hole, or carry it with you while you play through the glowing course. It makes missing a easy putt a lot easier to take.

Looking for something to do in downtown Portland that isn't just sitting at a bar? Down in the basement on Taylor Street, there's a whole blacklight mini golf course waiting for you. You get 13 holes of glowing pirate nonsense. It's weird, it's dark, and it gets you out of the heat for an hour. Bring a friend, grab a putter, and try not to lose your ball in the dark.
