Henry Diltz, a renowned music photographer, has shot over 250 album covers in the ’60s and ’70s, including The Doors’ iconic Morrison Hotel album cover. His fly-on-the-wall style portraits feature legendary artists like the Eagles, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Nash, Joni Mitchell, and Jimi Hendrix.

He was the official photographer at Woodstock in 1969, and his work has appeared in esteemed publications such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Life Magazine. Known for his intuitive composition and use of natural light, Diltz continues his career documenting the music scene around Southern California and across the globe. He is one of a select few who has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from The Grammys, The Lucie, and the International Photography Hall of Fame. His impact on rock culture is immeasurable, capturing authentic moments that define an era.

“I am amazed at the accumulation of images that has resulted, simply by doing what I love to do, day after day after day,” he says. “It’s a result of being with countless people over the years, waiting at the sidelines for the moment to happen. Photography has been my passport, and I have arrived in the present, where I have always been, camera in hand. There! That says it best for me!”

Hello friends of the Alberta Rose Theatre. As you may have heard our dear friend, John Averill (MarchFourth founder, White Album Xmas/Nowhere Band leader, Suite Judy Blue Eyes founder), is in the midst of tremendous grief after the sudden loss of his beloved dog and is now under the weight of a debt that loss has incurred. Earlier this summer, Pie had two surgeries for tumors on her chest and leg, then recovered well enough to enjoy swimming and playing. But on September 12 at 4 a.m., an aggressive tumor around her spleen took her life in the ER. The surgeries and final medical care left more than $13,000 in bills, much of it placed on borrowed credit cards.

A musician’s budget can’t absorb that kind of loss and expense alone. Support would help John begin paying down the veterinary debt while honoring the extraordinary life Pie shared with so many of us. Please help support a fellow artist and musician by donating and sharing this fundraiser to get the word out.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and support!
