So the rumors are true. Congress Bar & Grill is being sold to Fraser/Loring. The last day of business will be Saturday August 31st. The restaurant will be closed for a period of time for some much needed renovations. When it reopens I really don’t know what to expect. I’m sure they will make improvements and make it their own.
I have owned the business for 21 years, first with Norm as my partner and ford the past 8 as sole proprietor. For the most part it has been a good run. I have loved meeting the customers and many have become good friends. I have also enjoyed the camaraderie with my co-workers. Restaurant people are a diverse and crazy bunch.
Ｉwant to thank Kevin Goodell for his support and all the employees who had my back over the years. There is something else I would like to get off my chest and I might get some flack for it but theft has been a big problem in this business. Whether it’s padding your hours, stashing a few steaks in your backpack,treating your buddies or helping yourself to the owner’s booze or just flat out taking money, it’s all stealing and it hurts. Each time I’ve been disappointed and a little more jaded.
Anyway,I’ve made a lot of changes in the past year and am happy to be moving forward. I’m working at a job that I enjoy where I am nobody’s boss , far from it , and I hope that I am making a positive impact in some way. It’s the things you do when no one’s watching that matter most .
