Led by fiddler Michelle Alany, this extraordinary ensemble brings together musicians with years of international touring and cross-cultural collaboration. Fiddle, clarinet, accordion, percussion, and strings weave traditional and original melodies into a rich tapestry of passionate improvisation and celebration.

Drawing from Sephardic, Balkan, and Klezmer traditions, their music honors the connections between cultures while breathing new life into melodies passed down through generations.

Friday, October 23rd 🎶 True North Duo brings award-winning American roots music to the listening room… soul-baring harmonies, hand-built instruments, and songs that find their way from the ear to the heart.

Kristen Grainger and Dan Wetzel have earned top honors for performing songwriters at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Kerrville Folk Festival, and MerleFest. In 2021, The Bluegrass Situation named Kristen alongside Dolly Parton and Brandi Carlile among the “Women Who Wrote Our 2020 Soundtrack.”

Based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, the duo now tours nationally and internationally, with three albums reaching #1 on the folk radio charts.

Signed to Capitol Records at 25 and Universal Records at 28, Brendan has toured or collaborated with John Mayer, John Legend, Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Keb’ Mo’, and Andy Grammer, with his songs appearing in more than 15 major television shows and films worldwide.

Across six albums, he’s written about love, optimism, self-empowerment, wanderlust, simplifying life, and finding your way through the world… weaving those songs together onstage with stories and fresh perspective.

A chance to hear a seasoned songwriter up close, in a room where the stories behind the songs have space to land.

This Friday, October 16th 🎶 Pat Byrne brings Irish-Americana to the room… traditional Irish storytelling and melody meeting the songwriting lineage of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and James McMurtry.

Pat Byrne
An Irish singer-songwriter who has made his living in music for more than 20 years, Pat won the inaugural season of The Voice of Ireland in 2012 before touring extensively across Ireland and Europe and eventually making his way to Austin, Texas.

Since settling there in 2017, he’s become a fixture in the songwriting community, earning a Black Fret grant, selling out a residency at the legendary Saxon Pub, and performing at SXSW, AmericanaFest, Kerrville Folk Festival, Folk Alliance International, and more. He’s also opened for Shawn Colvin, Lady A, The Bros. Landreth, and Joe Ely.

Irish folk roots, Texas songwriting, and a lifetime built around stories and songs.

Thursday, October 22nd 🎻 Golden Shoals with Morgan Harris bring old-time and bluegrass into the listening room… exceptional players carrying traditional stringband music forward with original songs, modern wit, and serious instrumental firepower.

A fiddle and guitar duo praised by No Depression for their “rousing old-time-style music,” Golden Shoals pair the grit and drive of traditional music with conservatory-level technique and songwriting compared to Gillian Welch. They’ve placed at some of traditional music’s most respected contests, including Clifftop, Mount Airy, the Grand Master Fiddler Championship, and Galax.

Morgan Harris
A Portland guitarist specializing in traditional North American stringband music, Morgan turns the guitar from an accompanying instrument into a driving melodic voice through a distinctive flatpicking style rich with rhythm and resonance.

A night for songwriters, pickers, and anyone who loves hearing old traditions come alive in new hands.

Sunday, October 25th 🎶 Jacob Westfall and Ned and Wendy The Band bring two distinctly Portland takes on folk to the room… tender-rock, glam-folk, powerhouse vocals, and songs made for feeling everything at once.

A longtime force in Portland’s songwriting community, Jacob has appeared on NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s American Idol, pairing powerhouse vocals with genuine songwriting and a sound that moves between folk intimacy, pop, and rock & roll. His songs turn love, goodbyes, friendship, and relentless optimism into something meant to be shared.

Ned and Wendy The Band
Married musicians Jordan and Lindsey Plotner make what they call Portland Glam-Folk: music built around community, connection, joy, wonder, and songs that make you want to dance while crying.

Salinas Road:
Folk-country songs rooted in longing, quiet love, and the blurry line between memory and regret. With acoustic guitar, harmonica, and harmonies worn by weather and time, Salinas Road evokes the spirit of Townes Van Zandt, The Milk Carton Kids, and Gillian Welch — but filtered through the warm dusk of the California backcountry.

Formed in 2023 by longtime collaborators Paul Cruz and Bill Jones, the duo doesn’t just write songs — they carve out moments. Their breakout single “Lonely” has racked up over 400k organic streams through word-of-mouth and heartfelt fan connection. One of their newer releases, “See the Water” reflects the soft ache of hope — the story of a couple dreaming of moving to the coast.

With performances that feel more like conversations than showcases, Salinas Road is building something rare: a slow-burning community of listeners who show up for meaning, not marketing.

Blaine Heinonen:
Blaine James (of Pretty Gritty and Glitterfox) is a multi instrumentalist who has cultivated a sound that is both timeless and classic, yet still succeeds in bringing something fresh to the table, pushing rootsy-Americana sounds into an edgy, alternative space with stories to tell from an honest, soulful and authentic voice.

This Thurs, Oct 15th 🎶 Zoe FitzGerald Carter, Jason Luckett, and Lewis Childs bring an evening of eclectic folk, soul, and jazz to the room… original songs, shared musical chemistry, and plenty of room for collaboration.

Zoe FitzGerald Carter & Jason Luckett
Zoe and Jason first crossed paths playing an Aretha Franklin and Smokey Robinson tribute in California and have been collaborating ever since, from stages across the West Coast to an official showcase at the FAR-West music conference. At Artichoke, they’ll share original songs with Jason joining Zoe on harmony vocals and lead guitar before stepping forward with songs of his own.
