Congratulations, Class of 2026!
You did it! After years of homework, tests, group projects, early mornings, and wondering if you'd ever actually use algebra in real life, you've finally made it.
As you head off to college, careers, the military, trade schools, or whatever adventure comes next, remember where you came from. Portland may be a small town, but it has a way of producing hardworking, resilient people who know the value of a handshake, a helping hand, and showing up when it matters.
Go chase your dreams and see where life takes you. Take chances, work hard, and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Some of the best things in life happen when you take a leap of faith.
No matter how far you travel or how successful you become, never forget your roots. The lessons you learned, the friendships you made, and the community that helped shape you will always be part of who you are.
And if life doesn't go exactly as planned, that's okay too. Some of the best stories start with a detour.
Just a fair warning: adulthood comes with a lot of surprises. One day you'll be staying up until 2 a.m. with your friends, and before you know it you'll be excited about finding a good deal on paper towels and complaining about how expensive groceries are. It happens to the best of us.
