Our angel, the woman that greets you at the door, our one and only hostess.

Violet and I met when she was a regular at Revelry and soon after we became friends and my life hasn’t been the same since. She’s a true friend and always thinks of others first. She’s always bailing me out of tough binds, willing to fill in and do everything she can to support our team. We all agree at sunshine, Violet is the GOAT.

Aside from being at sunshine, she works as a museum curator for where she designs all the exhibits herself. Not only is she versed in fashion but her main passions lie in cooking and she one day wants her own restaurant where she can share her food.

You are a star, violet. Thank you for loving us, we love you just as much back.

We really appreciate all the support you have been giving us these past couple days. It's been amazing to see all your faces and receive your kind words--the support has been so helpful with getting us through this emotional time.

As you can Imagine, It's been a really Intense couple of days managing the volume and as a team, we really want to enjoy these last few days of being sunshine.

Where and when are you ever going to see two Cambodians in an American kitchen?!? So rare! Honestly, I was so lucky to have another Cambodian cook at Sunshine Noodles—SO LUCKY!

Fun loving, wacky, passionate and endearing , Vanny puts a different style to line cooking and I’ve enjoyed watching him come into his leadership role in our kitchen. Watching him take his management role more seriously and excel into being someone we wholeheartedly depend on has really been a privilege. I’m so proud of you!

Vanny! My bro! Thanks for sharing your Cambodian heritage with me. It was so special to share it with you as well.

A Seattle native, she worked at some of Portland’s finest after moving to here. She was a core leader at Jacqueline and Bamboo Sushi and quickly jumped in at Sunshine and ironed a lot of our front of house hiccups. Through her organization, efficiencies, objective-oriented work ethic and strong guest experience, our service became seamless. Her thoroughness with our operations and desire to do more is something that constantly impressed me.

You are a beam of strength, Jenn! Your ability to step into a situation and command respect and attention is awe inspiring. you also do a mean “no doubt” cover and your highlighting skills are YouTube tutorial worthy. Thank you for choosing us as your place to take care of, we feel your love and affection and are so so lucky to have experienced it.

It is with much gratitude and a heavy heart to share that Sunshine Noodles will be closing its doors on 12/18. This was a tough decision to make, as I have learned from and grown so much from this experience. When I started Sunshine Noodles, I was passionate about bringing Cambodian cuisine to the Portland community. After over a year, I feel that we earned a place in your heart and I thank you for being our supporters.

Sunshine Noodles was home to many beautiful memories and was ultimately a wonderful place to work because of the close relationships with my staff and customers. I have been very lucky to have had the opportunity to build out the Sunshine Noodles team and working with so many special people. I truly believe that this change will yield new opportunities for everyone involved.

As for my future, I am very excited to say that I’ll be relocating to San Francisco and am looking forward to continuing my passions there with hopes of returning in the near future.
With a little over a week to say our goodbyes, we welcome you in to enjoy your favorite dishes for the last time and say thanks to the staff. We love you and this was one heck of a run!

One of our newer cooks, they’ve quickly climbed the ladder to the top of everyone’s heart. McKenna quickly impressed my by their ability to learn and adapt quickly to our kitchen and their thoroughness and care for the food is something you simply can’t teach.

Wit, humble and grace are three words I would use to describe them and my favorite shifts are those where I’m working 1 on 1 with them because we have a bond that allows me to open up, truly a special individual.

McKenna! You continue to amaze me, the next time you dine, look out for them zipping through the kitchen because you will never see them idle, they’re always moving.

ISABEL MORALES

Isabel has been a part of my team for SIX YEARS! she started at revelry with me, we worked through the pandemic together and she has been the only person by my side for my entire Portland career.

We’ve supported each other through some dark times and our bond is closer to family than it is coworkers. A single mother of four, she’s the breadwinner for her family and a source of joy to everyone around her.

We trade lipstick, beauty advice and best of all she is the most honest with my cooking. She’s constantly teasing us, always willing to help even when we tell her to leave early and has the best one liners.

My main chica, I love you so much, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you.

JOE “McASIAN” NGUYEN


Another Portland native! We call him Mr. Mayor because he is a fixture in Portland and there’s no where he can go without running into a friend.

Joe helped us open the restaurant and was my go to for anything I would need, the best partner in crime. I discovered his talents when I was stuck in a bind at 4am before our soft opening and didn’t have a server. He answered my call for help and jumped right on. Now he’s an invaluable member of our team.

Always the practical joker, always the person I call when I need to sound off, always the team player and just the best brand ambassador you could have, not an opportunity is missed to plug sunshine.

We love you Joe! Your hair is never kept, I love your knack for snacking on cheese in random corners of our restaurant and you do reckless sports I do not condone, but someone’s gotta do it—it’s hard work being Portland’s best softball player (and favorite).
