Every artist who records for Blue Note is part of a grand legacy, now in its 86th year. But pianist Paul Cornish is a torchbearer for several remarkable Blue Note legacies, all at once. Which makes You’re Exaggerating!, his powerfully lyrical trio debut for the label, a mission statement for Blue Note’s next generation.

To begin, Cornish is part of a great heritage of jazz piano that has unfolded at the label, from Blue Note’s first 78-rpm releases by Meade Lux Lewis and Albert Ammons through Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, Andrew Hill, Don Pullen, Geri Allen, Jacky Terrasson, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Renee Rosnes, Aaron Parks, Gerald Clayton and beyond.

Then, he’s part of a lineage of Blue Note artists, past and present, who hail from Houston, Texas, and developed at the city’s Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, a.k.a. HSPVA. That more recent hall of fame includes Jason Moran, Robert Glasper, Walter Smith III, Kendrick Scott, Chris Dave and James Francies. Of course, within that list there’s yet another bloodline, of musicians who’ve come to define jazz pianism in the 21st century: Moran, Glasper, Francies and, now, Cornish, who was born and raised in Houston and has been based in Los Angeles for over a decade.

São Paulo born and New York based guitarist/composer, Vinicius Gomes explores the dialogue between modern jazz and Brazilian music, as registered on "Resiliência" (2017- Blackstream), "Changes" (2020-FreshSound - in collaboration with saxophonist Santi De la Rubia featuring drummer Jorge Rossy and bassist Doug Weiss), "Home" (2022- Greenleaf - in duo with singer Song Yi Jeon), and the most recent “Boundless Species” (2026-La Reserve - in collaboration with singer Jamile and bassist Joe Martin). His next solo album is scheduled for 2026 with special guest Toninho Horta, plus John Patitucci, Julian Shore, Rogerio Boccato and others.

The project "Home" has been critically acclaimed by publications such as Downbeat magazine (4.5 stars - "Home glows from within and impresses on multiple levels. A powerful empathetic link binds SongYi Jeon and Vinicius Gomes as they explore a near perfect example of a duet project" - Josef Woodard). The album was picked "Jazz album of the year 22" by Star R***e magazine.

Alden Hellmuth is a saxophonist, improviser, and composer “out of the ordinary” (In & Out Jazz) and currently based in New York. Originally from Hartford, Connecticut, she grew up surrounded by the legacy of the great saxophonist Jackie McLean and received her bachelor’s degree from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford. In 2025 she received her master’s degree from the Herbie Hancock Institute at UCLA, where she was mentored by artistic director Ambrose Akinmusire and Herbie Hancock. Grounded by her foundations in tradition and drawn to a wide spectrum of experimental musical practices, Alden is deeply inspired by art that moves with emotion and lives within dissonance.

As a composer and improviser, Alden strives for authentic expression through freedom, intuition, and a deep dedication to her craft. Her debut album, "Good Intentions," released in September 2024 under the Fresh Sound New Talent label, won “Debut Album of the Year International” (Deutscher Jazz Preis) and garnered international acclaim, with Steve Smith of For The Record describing it as "a vital debut," and Culture Jazz praising it as "...full of character, great imagination, and vibrant energy." A towering figure in jazz for more than six decades, Buster Williams has performed alongside generations of the music's greatest artists—from Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Nancy Wilson to Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, and countless others. Max Haymer is a Grammy-Nominated and Internationally Renowned Pianist. Known for his powerful approach to the piano, as well as his dynamic compositions and arrangements, Haymer’s style has been often referred to as “Athletic Jazz.” Combining the Jazz and Songbook tradition with Modern Jazz and Afro-Cuban influences, Haymer gives a fresh and unique take on the American artform.

Haymer currently is the pianist and lead arranger for Jazz Vocal Icon, Jane Monheit. Haymer spent most of 2020 performing remote shows with Monheit, cultivating a new musical relationship that has blossomed into a stellar partnership. This partnership has now blossomed into duo and quartet shows that have been performed around the world in Mumbai, Seoul, London, Milan, Sao Paulo, Munich, Hamburg, and at numerous national venues such as Blue Note Hawaii, SMOKE, Birdland, Blues Alley, Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, Yoshi’s Oakland, SF Jazz, Jazz TX, LIBRETTO, Jazz Alley, and the Purple Room Palm Springs. Haymer played and arranged for Monheit’s last 2 albums, The Merriest and JANE MONHEIT.

From 2015-2025, Haymer was the touring pianist and music director for Grammy Award Winner and Kennedy Center Honoree, Arturo Sandoval, playing at such places as the Blue Note NYC/Tokyo/Beijing, Newport Jazz Festival, Vancouver Jazz Festival, Teatro Opera de Buenos Aires, Sala Sao Paolo, Focsani Blues Fest, Gazarte Athens, Detroit Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Alley, Blues Alley, Yoshi’s Oakland, and Walt Disney Concert Hall. Haymer was the featured pianist on Arturo Sandoval’s scores for Clint Eastwood’s films, The Mule and Richard Jewell. Haymer is also the pianist on Sandoval’s Grammy-Nominated album, Rhythm & Soul.

Haymer studied with the great LA based pianist Tamir Hendelman through high school and went on to continue his music education at UC Irvine, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors and a Bachelor of Music degree in 2007. At Irvine, Haymer studied Jazz Performance with Kei Akagi, Darek Oles, Bobby Rodriguez, and the late Sherman Ferguson. During that time, he also studied Musical Theater Direction with Dr. Gary Busby.

With an impressive array of performances at renowned venues and festivals across the world, Iida has built a reputation as a skilled performer and a dedicated educator.

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri as the son of Japanese immigrants, Iida was immersed in a broad range of musical influences during his upbringing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Iida’s musical journey has taken him from Los Angeles to Seattle, and he is currently an active figure in the New York music scene. His performance credits include Jazz at Lincoln Center (Shanghai), Pit Inn (Tokyo), 100BAN Hall (Kobe), Smalls Jazz Club, Nublu, and Soapbox Gallery (NYC), as well as a number of prestigious venues in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle, such as Sam First, Blue Whale, The Baked Potato, Gold Diggers, SFJazz, Black Cat, Benaroya Hall, and The Triple Door. He has also performed internationally, with notable tours in Canada, the US, and China.

As a bandleader, Iida leads the Jun Iida Group (Los Angeles/NYC), and has been a part of successful ensembles such as FADE Quintet (Seattle), Salt Petal (Los Angeles) and Todo Mundo/WITHIN (San Diego). He has performed at renowned festivals including SXSW, PDX Jazz Fest, and Earshot Jazz Festival. Possessing a classic sense of showmanship, Matt’s uplifting message and poignant sound have been featured among the world’s most celebrated venues, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. If you can imagine a one-of-a-kind trumpet virtuosity paired with dreamy vocals, deeply authentic jazz roots and soaring soundscapes, you’re beginning to conjure the artistry of Matt Von Roderick.

​Von Roderick made his Carnegie Hall debut as a featured guest soloist with the New York Pops Orchestra, and has appeared as both a soloist and composer at Lincoln Center and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. A graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, he went on to receive his Master's of Music from New York University, where he was granted the Alberto Vilar Global Fellowship. Pianist, accordionist and composer Ben Rosenblum, has traversed a truly unique musical path, one that has seen him perform alongside world-class musicians across more than twenty music genres and twenty-five countries, lead bands at prestigious venues across the world, all while maintaining a signature, melodic musical voice. Rosenblum’s journey has taken him on tours with Grammy-winning pop artist Rickie Lee Jones, Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Catherine Russell and Juno-winning contemporary Indian singer Kiran Ahluwalia. He’s played Brazilian choro with Ephrat Asherie Dance and Brazilian forró with The Late Night Show’s Nêgah Santos and famed forró band Forró in the Dark. His roots in jazz have led to an over ten-year relationship with Grammy-winning bassist Curtis Lundy, performing at festivals alongside jazz luminaries Bobby Watson, Sean Jones and Warren Wolf. A Love Electric is a psychedelic power trio hailing from Mexico City's vibrant jazz scene, blending raw energy with experimental flair across genres. Formed by guitarist and vocalist Todd Clouser, a Minnesota native now rooted in Mexico City, alongside Jorge Servin (originally Hernan Hecht)) and Mexican bassist Aaron Cruz, the band embodies a cross-cultural fusion of rock, jazz, and psychedelia. Emerging from the city's underground music circles, they have carved out a space for unbridled creativity, refusing to conform to market-driven labels and instead channeling imagination into soundscapes that defy categorization.

Over a decade of relentless output, A Love Electric has released seven albums on labels spanning the US, Mexico, and Europe, while touring the world on their own terms—performing over a thousand shows across four continents. Their commitment to artistic freedom has earned acclaim, with La Jornada hailing them as "the tomorrow of creative rock" and "one of the most progressive and important groups of recent years," Jazz Times calling their work "a celebration of the creative," and Vive Latino describing the lineup as "a savage guitarist, a ruthless drummer, an enormous bassist."

Their latest record, "Man and Machine," marks a new chapter in their evolving sound, exploring themes of humanity amid technological chaos through eight songs running from obtuse groove to reflective turn-of-the-world anthems.
