Meet the Artist🧑‍🎨 Port Royal Plein Air Invitational • October 9-11, 2026

Vivian Hornsby spent two decades as the Upper Level art instructor at Westminster Schools of Augusta, where she found immense joy in witnessing her students discover and develop their own creative voices. That same sense of curiosity, joy, and hope is reflected in her own work, which draws inspiration from the many simple and beautiful aspects of life. Outside the studio, Vivian can often be found backpacking, baking cakes, or nurturing her ever-growing collection of plants—three pursuits that perhaps reveal just as much about the artist as her paintings do.

For Windhorse, Vivian’s return to the Plein Air Invitational is especially meaningful. She may be new to the lineup this year, but she is certainly not new to us. Vivian was our guest judge for last year’s Invitational and is a longtime friend of our curator and co-owner, Katy Perrin. Their shared roots in the art world run deep, all the way back to high school art class with Mr. Middleton, through earning their BFAs together at ASU, and into many years of working side by side to jury applicants for the Fine Arts Department of the Arts in the Hearts of Augusta Festival.

It’s a friendship and creative connection that has spanned decades, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Vivian back to Port Royal this year—this time with a paintbrush in hand and the opportunity to share her own creative perspective with our community.

Tonight’s ‘Uncorked’ staff picks line-up is our way of having a little send-off to the summer months!☀️🥲 Lucky for us, we live in the Lowcountry and will have plenty more weeks appropriate for a crispy white before fall settles in.

Alongside a crisp, California-grown Albariño from Lodi, a slate-driven Godello blend from Galicia, and a lively skin-contact natural white from Catalonia, we’ve added a sparkling Italian Lambrusco to round out this week’s tasting. Friday ‘Uncorked’ runs from 5–7 tonight at The Shed!

Not a w**e drinker? No problem! We have a variety of craft beers, ciders, kombucha, and non-alcoholic beverages as well.

Meet the Artist 🧑‍🎨 Port Royal Plein Air Invitational • October 9-11, 2026

Capturing the coast in a way that can’t help but bring a smile to your face.  We’re thrilled to welcome Michelle Seay to the Windhorse Plein Air Invitational!

Raised on Kiawah Island, Michelle is a College of Charleston Honors graduate, School of Visual Arts alumna, and a certified USCG Captain who spent nearly two decades navigating the Atlantic. Her connection to the sea, humor, and unwillingness to blend in are apparent in every one of her pieces. We can’t wait to see what creatures inspire her here in Port Royal!
