🇺🇸 VJ DAY — SEPTEMBER 2, 1945 🇺🇸

Today, we commemorate Victory over Japan Day and the formal end of World War II.

On September 2, 1945, representatives of Japan formally signed the surrender documents aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, bringing the most devastating conflict in world history to an official close.

On this VJ Day, may we never forget the extraordinary sacrifices made by the Greatest Generation in defense of freedom.

🇺🇸 Their service secured victory. Their sacrifice helped secure peace. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

On August 16, we proudly recognize National Airborne Day and honor the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces’ airborne divisions.

This day also commemorates the first official U.S. Army parachute jump on August 16, 1940—a historic moment that helped shape the future of airborne warfare. We salute the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of America’s airborne warriors.
