Organizing photos: SOD softball tournaments! 3 days of playing hard, fun, food and drinks! At Frazier field/Dan Marino Field for years then up st the Oval. These are from the 80’s I believe.

Wow, long time since I’ve posted. I wanted to let people know that Richie Novak (the SOD manager and my mum’s cousin) passed away. He will be missed, I loved his sarcastic wit! He was honest, loyal, someone who had your back and loved his systems. Info for viewing and funeral are below:

Peacefully, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, Richard, age 86, of Oakland, passed away due to complications of cancer. Richard was an avid reader of the newspaper and always kept up with the changes in his beloved Oakland. He loved to bowl, to garden, to travel - especially Las Vegas, and he could be spotted walking all over Oakland. Preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Alexandra; siblings: Edward (Barb), John (Bernice), Gertrude (Neil) Thompson, Joseph, Jr. (Vicki). Richard leaves behind his loving sisters, Marie Szramowski and Lorraine Benner; brother, Tony (Phyllis); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Richard was well loved and will be deeply missed (especially at the holiday dinners). Family and friends are welcomed at the JOHN N. ELACHKO FUNERAL HOME, 3447 Dawson St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, for Visitation on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Regis Church (St. Paul Cathedral Parish). A full day off yesterday!!! Wow : ) cleaning, putting Xmas away, enjoying my home ☺

Listening to music from my childhood, Motown! My parents and friends had awesome taste in music and I am so thankful of the SOD community that taught me to love having fun with friends, supporting in times of trouble and then dance your heart out and let it all go, thank you! I am sure many in my generation of the SOD family feel similar.
