When we moved here several years ago, our good friend Jake often took on the task of mowing
the lawn. The first time he did it, he ran over a snake with the mower, and saw snakes every time he cut after that (well, for the first several months, anyway.) So that's where the literal meaning came from. I find the name fitting, as well, thanks to the song "Snake Hill" by Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band's Taylor Hollingsworth. The song resonates with my never ending struggles to be a positive influence in the world, to let my words heal and not harm, to shake my selfish nature and share my undeserved blessings with others.
