Lemon custard with macerated fresh, local strawberries from our neighbors .pgh for this week’s Wednesday special.

Try a glass of the Le Colture ‘Cartizze’ as a pairing, to live in heavenly bliss, and so that you can tell people how much more you know about Prosecco than they do (it’s a huge region with a wide range of quality and styles people!).

If there’s any reason to leave air conditioning and suffer through the thick hot mass that’s the current outside air situation, it’s this pie and bar.

This week’s Wednesday special is a blueberry pie with lemon crumble from our neighbors .pgh. Wethinks either one of these delicious Austrian beauties could be fun pairings for the day:
-Wohlmuth’s Blaufrankisch from Neckenmarkt in Mittelburgenland and Hirtzberger’s Federspiel Muskateller from the Spitzer Graben in Wachau. Both exceptionally pretty versions of the wines that’ll bring out the fresh, fruity nature of this bee yootiful pie.

Almost caught the 30 seconds of dappled light here. Maybe next time.

Well, looks like, rain today, so that means all your Sunday before Memorial Day plans are ruined…UNLESS! Stop on by the ole’ Mixer for an all-American classic monstrosity: the Burger-Dog. Lexi wanted to jack up her night tonight, so she committed herself to making little burgers w/lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, ketchup and mustard on top of an all-beef dog.

Tuesdays are for Sushi, starting NOW at the Allegheny Wine Mixer! bariweiss, brining her years of sushi experience, will be slinging handrolls (and maybe more, eventually) during the warmer months. This week she’s got two different kinds of temakis: one with madai (red sea bream) and a vegetarian one with oshinko and inari (pickled radish and fried bean curd). And with so many wines to choose from, the pairing options are endless. So grab a glass, a bunch of hand rolls, a seat outside (or in our well air conditioned bar!), and enjoy a lovely Tuesday.
