In light of our recent decision to close The Pub, Kerry & I would like to make the below statement.
As some of you may already know, a few months ago, Kerry broke a tooth. He went in to have it repaired but the dentist refused to act until Kerry saw his doctor. That’s when we discovered his blood pressure was dangerously high. High blood pressure runs in his family and while his had always been slightly elevated, it was still within acceptable ranges.
Now, what you may not know. Kerry and I both work full-time. I manage the ecommerce department for a local manufacturer, and he works as a general contractor. Mainly his efforts are with a government assistance program that provides funding for home repairs and upgrades for Missouri’s elderly. His job is to ensure their homes are safe and comfortable for habitation. This is a job he loves.
Since the visit to the doctor, Kerry has been taking medication, but even with changing the drugs and dosages, we still do not have the lower numbers needed to reduce the risks associated with high blood pressure/hypertension. Now, at the urging of his doctor, slowing down and putting more focus on taking care of his health has become our priority.
That said, effective at end of business, Sunday, September 7th, we will be closing the Pub for good and actively promoting its sale. It is our staunch hope that a buyer can be found quickly, and the community will again enjoy the dining and entertainment options once available at the Pub.
We want to thank each one of you who came in for a meal, a drink or two, darts, bingo, poker, or pool. We’ll never forget the comments and compliments, words of gratitude, suggestions (albeit, at times, questionable) and general encouragement we received from the community over the years. We appreciate you all. We would not have been the success we were had it not been for all of you. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we will sorely miss seeing you every week.
Finally, a word to our staff, thank you all, you have put more heart and commitment into making the Pub a success than we would ever have thought possible. With the recent tragedies our Pub family has faced, not one of you hesitated to jump in and come together, often doing jobs you weren’t brought on to do, just to keep things running smoothly. We were continually amazed and so very proud of how personally you all took the success of The Pub. You are family and we are so grateful.
We have committed to a few upcoming events, and we plan on proceeding with those plans. Details will be posted as they are confirmed.
Again, thank you all – you made the Pub a great place to be.
