Every pirate costume starts with two men.

Blackbeard tucked lit fuses under his hat so he'd climb aboard wrapped in smoke. A painter named Howard Pyle invented the bandana-and-sash look in 1887. Put them together and you get every pirate costume in the aisle this week.

A lot of leather vests on the block Saturday night.

Almost all of them are first responders: active and retired law enforcement, military, EMTs, firefighters. 4Kings next door runs an open house fundraiser most months, and Saturday the 24th at 7 PM is this month's. Walk over, say hello, drop something in the pot.

If you are coming to see us: park early, the spots by the barbershop are your friend, and yes, you will hear the music.

We will be right where we always are.
