SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho – Firefighters continue working on the Gold Run Fire burning between Elizabeth Park and Big Creek, south of I-90 in Shoshone County.

The fire started Tuesday, June 16, at approximately 3 p.m. and is now estimated at 235 acres with 10% containment.

Evacuation notices remain in place for the Big Creek and Elizabeth Park area. Residents from Big Creek east to Johnson Street on both sides of I-90 remain in “Ready” status. The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office is managing evacuation information.

More than 120 structures, including homes, remain threatened. Three non-residential outbuildings have been confirmed lost, and crews continue assessing impacted areas.

Approximately 90 personnel are assigned to the fire, with additional resources arriving. Resources include two Type 1 hotshot crews and four Type 2 initial attack crews. The incident will transition to a Type 3 incident management organization this evening.

The fire is under Idaho Department of Lands protection. Cooperating agencies include the U.S. Forest Service, Silver Valley Fire Rescue, Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, Kellogg Police Department and Osburn Police Department.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
