We are excited to share the hiring of Joseph and Hailey Bending, Chef and Restaurant Manager!

Joseph moved to Phillips in 2001 and has deep generational roots in this community. He has 27 years of culinary experience ranging from fine dining to casual pub fare. Chef Joseph’s passion for fresh, local and seasonal ingredients will shape a menu designed to complement the golf course atmosphere.

Hailey, a Phillips native, has a wide variety of customer service experience in hotels and restaurants expanding from Phillips to Madeline Island. Her warm personality, attention to detail, and ability to make everyone feel welcomed will ensure your visit is special and memorable.

Joseph, Hailey and their children Elsie and Emaric enjoy discovering new restaurants, listening to live music, and camping.

We are excited to introduce ourselves as the new ownership team of Westwood Golf Course and the Sand Trap Restaurant. Westwood has been a valued part of our community for decades, and we are excited to continue that tradition. For us, this is more than a business venture — it’s a commitment to our community. Our families have been part of this area for generations, and we care deeply about keeping it a wonderful place to work, live, play, and raise a family.

For the upcoming season, our goals include:
• Opening as soon as weather permits
• Operating the golf course seven days a week
• Reintroducing Women’s League (Night TBD)
• Hiring the right team members to provide excellent service both on the course and in the restaurant

We are currently finalizing licensing and staffing, and we appreciate your patience during this period. Our intent is not just to operate a golf course, but to build a welcoming place where friends gather, families spend time, and new traditions are formed.
Membership information will be available tomorrow. We'll send out emails to members on file from 2025. We'll also post a link here on Facebook and the form will be available on our website. If you'd like to be added to the list, please email [email protected] or message us here on Facebook.

Dan and I want to sincerely thank everyone for a fun run at Westwood/Sandtrap! We truly appreciated everyone’s support over the last 7 1/2 years🥰 Andy will miss greeting all of the golfers but maybe he can say hi when you come around 6 green🐶

The new owners take over on Monday, March 2 and we wish them the best of luck!

2025 season is in the books! THANK YOU to everyone that came out this season🎉🎉🎉

THANK YOU to our crew, Jon, Roy, Wayne, Kacy, and Ingrid🥰. We can’t thank Adam enough. He was here ALOT this season to help wherever needed. Special thanks to Amie, Mike & Lisa, and Cason for filling in when we needed some extra help! We couldn’t have done it without all of you❤️

Thank you to all that came out yesterday for a round of fun, pizza, and “prizes”😂😂😂. It was a great way to end the season
