Hale & True Making better cider standard. Our cider is made by fermenting fresh Pennsylvania apple juice, straight from the orchard and into our tanks.

We thoughtfully incorporate ingredients like hops or fruit to create sessionable ciders that are balanced yet complex. Hale & True opened in April 2018, but the planning started years before that. In 2013, we made our first batch of cider in our tiny Old City apartment. It was naturally dry and delicious. After that, we were sold. Now, we are excited to share our love of making and drinking cider,

highlighting its diversity, and supporting local agriculture. Our award-winning cidery and taproom is located in Philadelphia, right off South Street. We serve cider made on-site, as well as other local beer, wine, spirits, and small plates. Our cider is also available for shipping nationwide, and at select bars and restaurants in the Philadelphia area.

After 10 years as a business, and 7 years at the taproom, Hale & True is closing at the end of this month. Our last day will be Saturday, May 24th. We’re extremely sad to share this news, and will miss the amazing community here more than anything. You all have been incredible, and we love you so much. We wish we could keep this going, but unfortunately, closing is the only option for us at this point. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. We’ll make these final weeks the best we possibly can.

Meet Gold Rush, our 7th anniversary cider, made with 100% Gold Rush apples. It’s tart, a little tannic, bursting with fruity, juicy notes, and in our opinion it might just be the best cider we’ve made. It comes in at 8.5% and has zero grams of sugar.

It will be available on draft and in cans starting Saturday. We can’t wait for you to try this one.

On Saturday we will also have popping up in the taproom, serving tasty Bolivian food, starting at 2:00 pm.

This Basement Series cider is a collaboration with Chef Reuben made with red dragon fruit and Asian pear. Chef Reuben will be serving food at the taproom all night as well.

This one-night, three-hour workshop is perfect for cider fans who want to learn more about the drink they love and those who want to get started cider making at home. The class is focused on learning how to make consistent, delicious cider and creating a solid foundation of cider making knowledge. We will also be tasting a variety of ciders!
