CURATORIAL STATEMENT:
Frequency is an exhibition rooted in the idea that perception itself is a creative act. The works gathered here — by artists from the Center for Creative Works — emerge from minds that process the world with particular intensity: minds attuned to pattern, repetition, rhythm, and the layered texture of experience. What might register as noise to some becomes signal. What might feel like overstimulation becomes composition.
The title draws deliberately from the language of sound and music, reflecting the exhibition’s home in a live music venue, but its meaning extends further. Frequency describes the rate at which something occurs, the wavelength on which something travels, the invisible structure underlying all sensation. These works operate on that register. They are dense, alive, internally ordered — built from systems of mark, color, and material that reveal their own logic the longer you look.
This is not an exhibition about difficulty or limitation. It is an exhibition about a particular kind of attention — one that finds connection, meaning, and beauty in the frequencies most people pass through without noticing.
