I’ve always been drawn to stained glass! I would sit in church as a kid and could give 2 f***s about the nonsense being said and would just stare at all of the stained glass surrounding me! It was the only thing that kept me from screaming S**U ‘Liar! during sermons!! Well I have to have stained glass but how? My windows are very small it won’t work and will just be dumb! Then it hit me build a LIGHT BOX!! Put it at the entry to the bar so it sets the tone for the place you’re now entering! BOOM!!
Since I am a terrible artist and cannot so stained glass since you need to draw or create your concepts I had to find an artist. Well who did I know that is an amazing artist whose art is not only amazing but evil as f**k AND is a member of the Church of Satan?!? After buying a few of his pieces that adorn the walls in my house and bar I had to ask him to do it after some back and fourth he agreed and not only that he created the sickest f**king piece ever!!! Then of course he did the bar logo and again f**king NAILED IT!!! I cannot thank him enough and if you’re into what he does follow him and support him by buying his art because it’s amazing and so is he!! Now came another hurdle who the f**k am I going to hire to do this insane piece?!? I mean they have to be nuts! They have to be rad AF! They have to be a good artist! They have to want to do it just because it’s so rad and of course they have to be amazing at stained glass!! Well you’d think this would be an impossible task but that’s just because you’re not in the know and you don’t surround yourself with cool ass original break the f**king mold humans! I’ve been following this person for quite sometime on IG and watched their stories and all of the cool s**t they put out like right up my alley then over the past couple years I watched and they got really f**king good at doing stained glass and I realized this was the person to do it it had to be her. Enter ! I sent her a message followed by the art from Peter and she was blown away! We talked pricing and after a few days of some back and fourth because this thing is a monster of a piece she agreed to the commission!!

When I decided I wanted to build a bar I knew it had to be special. I knew it had to be something I’d always want to hang out in and to achieve that well it would have to have all of the things that have been aesthetically pleasing to me my entire life. While in the design phase in my head I remembered going into bars as a kid in Manayunk and staring at the tin ceilings, natural hard woods, beautiful craftmanship, mosaic tiled floors, a beautifully made bar with an equally beautiful top with brass foot rests. So naturally part of my concept was born! I knew it had to have that old timey look cause it’s just f**king cool!! I started to look online for tin ceilings and found exactly what I wanted which is the Copper that’s in place it was an immediate no brainer! Now the floor. This was the hardest part artistically to achieve. I visited multiple places that I knew had cool mosaic floors throughout the city but when it came time to bring what I wanted to reality it would have been extremely time consuming so thankfully I found what’s in the space now which is a classic HEX 😉 style that’s b&w and looks fantastic! Next was the wood! I knew I wanted it to be dark but not to dark. I found some Mahogany at a local lumber yard and it was the perfect fit! Now the fun part! PAINT! Well if you know you know I couldn’t just simply paint it and be normal no it had to be something no one has, it had to be f**king cool!! I immediately thought hmm maybe I can do a faux style paint and then thought are those products even sold anymore? 🤔 while researching that I came across a really cool photo of a wall that was done with red, and black and some slight gold tones but the black looked like claw marks all over it by some knarly ass demon so immediately that was it! but how? Again more research and then I found Venetian plaster and all the cool techniques you can do with it. I went right to YouTube and found not only some Venetian plaster tutorials but I found the literal master who lives right in Maryland that has his own Faux School and teaches it!! I watched every night after work and some weekends and just went for it. I love how it came out and gets tons of compliments!! Next was the bar! Thankfully my brother is a master carpenter like literally the best you’ll ever see made a bar top probably 20 years ago made from African Padauk that has red and almost black grains going through it so it was perfect!
Next was lighting. Again I need something old and cool! I thought I need to get some antique sconces. Looking a through market place and several flea markets I finally found exactly 5 which is what I needed at a second store in N Philly that are Jan’s painted and solid brass that I scored for $50 total!! After cleaning them up, rewiring with new fixtures and black faux candles sticks with flickering bulbs they were better than I could ever imagined!! Next was a BIG ONE! I picked up the piece this past weekend and saw completely f**king killed this thing! Like it’s better than I could have ever imagined and cannot thank her enough!! So again if you’re into cool art put out by an amazingly talented original local artist go buy her stuff!! Don’t talk about “supporting local artists” go do it!! anyway I realize this was really f**king long and most people probably just want to comment TLDR S**U NERD but if you came this far thank you and just an FYI Trevor is Gay.
