Appreciation Post for the NBGD “Funk All-Star House Band” rhythm section! 🪩🙏

It has been a beautiful thing to have NBGD be a vehicle to solidify us as both a musical unit together, and as friends. Every month, we kick off the night by jumping straight onto a funky rocket ship together and take it wherever we’re called to in the moment — feeding off of each other, the incredible other musicians in that month’s house band, and responding to the energy of everyone in the crowd.
Ben is the glue and foundation, Varn is the mad scientist, James melts your face with a smile, and I try to keep the groove elastic, pushing and pulling to keep everyone on their toes.
These guys are not only some of the best musicians anywhere in the Bay, but they’re real friends and people I care about. It’s a beautiful thing! Grateful ❤️✨
