A railroad switchyard is where trains are sorted, connected, and redirected before continuing down the line. For generations, switchyards were the heart of railroad towns — full of movement, hard work, and people coming together.
That spirit inspired the name Switchyard Tavern.
Just like a switchyard brings different railcars together, our tavern is a place where locals, travelers, and friends can gather, unwind, and share stories. It’s a tribute to the railroad culture that helped shape Perry, Oklahoma.
The rail line running through Perry is now operated by BNSF Railway, one of the largest freight railroads in North America, carrying on the legacy of the historic Santa Fe Railway that played a major role in the growth of communities across Oklahoma.
At Switchyard Tavern, the sound of passing trains and the history of the rails are part of who we are — honoring the hardworking spirit that still runs through Perry today.
