Sadly, we are closing š¢
Iām truly heartbroken, but itās time. I want to thank all of you for your support. Odd Cookie could not have made it this far without it, and it means the world.
There was something incredibly special about seeing people walk in looking sad and depressed and then seeing their face light up when they saw the pastry display cases. Someone wrote a review and called me a happiness dealer, and I think about that on the bad days sometimes. It really has meant a lot to be able to bring a smile to peoples faces during these sad and lonely times.
However,
I cannot think of a worst time to have opened Odd Cookie.
I can honestly say, I have done everything in my capabilities to not have to write this post. Running a restaurant is hard, running a bakery is hard, running a bar is hard. All these things in one location, HARD.
But I kept going with hopes things would get better, and Downtown would come back to what it was before Covid. Unfortunately, circumstances have not gotten better in the area, and we will be permanently closing end of next month when our lease is up.
We opened less than 2 months before Covid hit, and the hits wouldnāt stop coming. The continuous openings and closures, Protests, fires, riots, homeless population growing, state and office workers working from home (pretty much the whole point of having a restaurant downtown is to cater to them) and to top it off the recent shootings, not to mention the continuous bullying and harassment from the city, itās just not feasible to stay where we are currently located.
I do hope to relocate someday, I just do not know when or where it will be. I will keep this IG account open, and of course I will still be baking and posting! And will update any news as it comes.
In the meantime, we will be open another month! Please come in and say goodbye. And you guys, support the small businesses you care about! You donāt know how close so many places are to closing right now.
Special thank you to my staff, weāve been running Odd Cookie with only 3-4 employees for a long time and they work so hard. I love you guys. I appreciate you all.
