Finally got a moment to install a rear suspension style rack on my Freestyle.

A fairly simple way to do a rear for light loads up to 25 pound made by Thule.

I’m running a Radical Banana S set of panniers. Makes a great place to start on setting up a self supported touring rig!!

Sebring 2024 is in the books.
Congrats to Larry Oslund for putting in a nicely done event!!

Rode my Freestyle called the Blue Racer. Blue Racer is two for two in wins since I have started riding Blue!

It was rough race for me. Knew it was going to be tough but was thinking in a drafting race I would ride smart and get through it okay.
Only issues the drafting races did not have a lot of firepower in them.

Recumbents dominated the front with Three Cruzbike riders and myself.
Ken Holzhausen in the six hour and Maria Parker with Laura Crawford in a two person 12 hour team.

They all were strong riders. Ken, Maria and I did the first long loop together.
At that point Maria and Laura started doing the short loop and Ken and I went for another long loop.

At the end of two long loops,( 36 miles for the long loop), and a couple short loops, ( 3.7 miles for the short loop), 76 miles, my average speed was 23.4mph. That would be the last of that!

I started doing solo short loops which I will call torture loops!! There was less time banging into the headwind but also to less time to recover from the effort it took into the head wind. Where out on the long loop you had long stretches of tailwind to recover and get the average speed back up.

At six hours I had 130 miles but was watching the average speed tick down
Every few laps and hot foot was taking its toll!! I would try and ride for a hour and then stop to get my feet down for a few minutes.

When the feet were not screaming at me I was able to jump onto the back of Maria for a lap or two to stem the flow of declining average speed for awhile.

With two hours to go I said damm the torpedoes of pain, (my feet), and latch on to the flying CruzeForce ladies for fast laps! It was fun to ride with the beautiful strong ladies!

My Garmin showed 241.78 miles. Race timing gave me 243. 23 miles.
It helps to take the shortest line on the loop when possible.

I wrote up a little bit about the 12 hours of Sebring this last Saturday.

I did leave out one important part.
Vaune Davis volunteered to crew for me and did a most excellent job. Of course I thought I really did not need much crewing at the beginning but as time went on she kept me on track!!! Vaune thank you so much and Susan Gryder if you push Vaune to do my support, thank you!!! Vaune is great!!!!
