Hope you had a great safe holiday weekend, what a great summer 2026!

Labor Day is a great time to enjoy classic Kentucky bourbons, smoky pours, or refreshing wh***ey highballs as summer winds down so enjoy something special to cap off the summer!

Our favorite Labor Day classics ...
Rye Manhattan: Combine 2oz of your favorite rye wh***ey, 1oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir & serve up in a chilled martini glass, or on the rocks if you prefer.

Bourbon Old Fashioned: Combine 2oz of your favorite bourbon, sugar cube or simple syrup to taste, 2–3 dashes Angostura bitters, and 1–2 dashes orange bitters. Stir over ice, then garnish with an orange peel and bada bing cherry.

Wh***ey Sour: Combine 2oz of your favorite bourbon wh***ey, ¾oz fresh lemon juice, and ¾oz simple syrup, shake with ice, then strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Add a lemon wheel and bada bing cherry for fun and aromatherapy 😉

What better place to indulge than at Founders Tavern to celebrate the month-long observance honoring the rich history, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of bourbon. Discover new distilleries, explore tasting! 

On August 2, 2007, the United States Senate unanimously passed Senate Resolution 294, designating September as National Bourbon Heritage Month. The resolution was sponsored by Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning, and its text is worth reading once because it is unusually specific about why: bourbon is described as "America's Native Spirit," a designation that traces back to a 1964 Congressional resolution declaring bourbon a distinctive product of the United States.
