This week in 1987, Motley Crue concluded their 6-month tour in support of Girls Girls Girls with three consecutive sold-out nights at Budokan Hall in Tokyo. They were originally scheduled to hit the road for a European tour in '88, but after Nikki's near-fatal overdose, their manager canceled everything and sent the whole band to rehab. Motley didn't play live again until the Moscow Music & Peace Festival in the summer of '89, where they ironically fired the manager who had quite possibly saved their lives a year and a half earlier. 🤘🏻

On this day in 1983, Van Halen released JUMP, the first single from their then-forthcoming album, MCML###IV. The song was an instant smash hit, peaking at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock charts. JUMP was certified Gold less than four months later, and remains the most successful single in their entire catalog. 🤘🏻
